Raw: Mad dash to Survivor Series
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Someone at Titan Tower must of looked at a calendar this week, because tonight's RAW is a mad, dash build-up for Survivor Series from Baltimore, Maryland.

John Cena walks to the ring with his Survivor Series team (Lashley, Kane, RVD, and Sabu). The WWE champ calls out Big Show's squad (Finlay, MVP, Umaga, and Test), instead Team RKO (Edge, Orton, Gregory Helms, Nitro, and Mike Knox) is at ringside. Edge and Orton brag about their titles, and say they will add another when Nitro wins his ladder match. Ric Flair and team (Sgt. Slaughter, Dusty Rhodes, and a legend to be named later) calls Edge pathetic, when the Spirit Squad interrupts.

Kenny calls Flair old and pathetic, and starts a cheer, when Team DX (CM Punk, Matt and Jeff Hardy) enters the fray. (By the way, with the Hardys getting back together, doesn't Matt look like the happiest man in the building?) HBK wants to start the Royal Rumble, right now. Trips whispers in his ear, and Michaels changes his tune to Survivor Series. Hunter tells Cena that Show is going to show, because there's an open case of Twinkies in the back. Team DX is ready to rumble with Team RKO, when Team Show finally appears. Show says his team will dominate, as the faces slip into the ring. Before all hell can break loose, Mr. McMahon walks out on stage. He tells the teams to save it for Sunday, but tonight there will be an 8-man captain's tag team match.

Match # 1 -- Sabu vs. Umaga w/Armando Alejandro Estrada

Umaga hits Sabu with a stiff shot to start, and follows with a head butt. Umaga punches Sabu in the corner; Sabu tries to fight back with no effect. Sabu slips out of the ring, but Umaga follows, whipping him into the security barrier. Back in the ring, Umaga hits the head butt splash. Sabu floats over, but then runs into a big boot. Sabu dodges a corner charge, and counter with a springboard leg drop. Sabu build momentum, and hits a DDT. Sabu leaps off the ropes, but right into the hands of Umaga. The Samoan bulldozer finishes him off with the Samoan Spike.

Winner by pinfall: Umaga

After the break, Torrie Wilson is in the ring with the T-shirt gun, when Chris Masters comes to the ring. The Masterpiece shows off his guns, and tells Torrie he has a position for her. Torrie rebuffs his advance, and Carlito comes to her aid. Carlito punches Masters, and knocks him from the ring. As Carlito helps Torrie from the ring, Masters attacks him from behind, and is able to lock in the Masterlock. Carlito is in big trouble, until Jerry Lawler chases Masters from the ring.

Todd Grisham welcomes Nitro and Melina. She says her man in confident going into his first ladder match, and they dedicate the match to K-Fed. (I feel sick.)

Kenny informs the rest of the squad that one of them will face Dusty Rhodes. Johnny steps up, but Kenny shoots him down. Kenny says he's the captain so he'll pick, and he picks Nicky. Kenny sees Flair, and goes over to have a few words. Kenny says youth will prevail, and it doesn't matter what Legend he finds. Flair respond with two words, "WOOOO!" and Ron Simmons shows up with, "Damn!"

Jeff Hardy is pacing in the back, when the ref comes for the belt.

Match #2 -- Nitro w/ Melina vs. Jeff Hardy -- Intercontinental Title Ladder Match

Hardy and Nitro lock up. Nitro hits a European uppercut and then a series of hard rights in the corner. Nitro whips Hardy into the corner, but Jeff counters into the whisper in the wind. Nitro responds with a face buster, and is the first to get a ladder. Hardy baseball slides into the ladder, knocking Nitro to the floor. Jeff leaps over the rope crashing into the ladder and Nitro.

After the break, Hardy is climbing the ladder, but Nitro pushes it over, hanging Jeff up on the ropes. Hardy smashes Nitro into the ladder, and both men climb. Hardy blocks a superplex, and pushes Nitro to the floor. Jeff then drops kicks the ladder into Nitro. Nitro tries to catapult Hardy into the ladder, but Jeff catches himself and starts to climb. Nitro slows him up, also ascending the ladder. Nitro drop kicks Hardy off the top of the ladder, and both men crash to the mat. Hardy cuts Nitro off, and slams him on the ladder. Jeff climbs the turnbuckle, but misses a swanton. Nitro throws the ladder and Hardy, and follows with a drop kick. Nitro sets the ladder in between the ropes on the turnbuckle, and whips Hardy into it. Nitro grabs a bigger ladder, slipping it into the ring. Nitro hits a neckbreaker, and drives the ladder into Hardy's midsection. Hardy reverses and Irish whip, and Nitro flies into the bigger ladder breaking the supports. Hardy and Nitro climb the smaller ladder, and Hardy uses and sunset flip to powerbomb Nitro. Hardy then climbs turnbuckle, and hits a leg drop over the ladder onto Nitro. Jeff then pins Nitro under the ladder, and climbs toward the title. Hardy pulls down the IC title to retain.

Winner: Jeff Hardy

The Baltimore Ravens are in the house.

Todd Grisham introduces Dusty Rhodes. The American Dreams says the Spirit Squad is in for a rude awakening.

Match #3 -- Nicky vs. Dusty Rhodes

Nicky tries a sneak attack, but Rhodes sees it coming. Dusty dodges a punch in the corner. Nicky refuses to lock up, and then hits a thumb to the eye. Nicky works over the Dream in the corner. Nicky kicks at Rhodes' legs. The Dream catches Nicky coming off the turnbuckle, and then hits several punches. Dusty hits the bionic elbow, and then drops an elbow to get the win.

Winner via pinfall: Dusty Rhodes

Lita and Edge are sharing a private moment, when Orton and Maria interrupt. Maria wants to know if team RKO can win, when they hear Cryme Tyme making noise. Orton says with these guys in the tag team division they will hold onto the belts for a while. Cryme Tyme verbally lays into Team RKO. Edge and Orton leave, but Cryme Tyme wants Maria to stick around and watch See No Evil with them.

Match #4 -- Lita vs. Mickie James

Lita informs Mickie that this week she will be blindfolded. (Who approves these things?!?) Anyone, Mickie doesn't stand a chance. Lita hits a DDT, and follows with a moonsault to get the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Lita

After the match, Lita announces that her title match at Survivor Series will be her last, saying the fans don't appreciate her, or her legacy.

Backstage, the heel captains meet up for their match.

Match #5 -- Edge, Randy Orton, Big Show, and Kenny vs. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, and Ric Flair -- Eight Man Tag Team Match

John Cena gets the party started before DX has a chance to get to the ring. Big Show charges Flair on the outside, but misses and catches all ring post. HBK tosses Kenny, and Trips hits a spinebuster on Orton. Edge is left all alone with all four faces. Each takes a turn with a punch, and HBK climbs the turnbuckle, and drops the elbow. HBK tunes up the band, but Show pulls Edge out of the ring. Big Show enters the ring, and DX hammers away at him. Show grabs both men, but Flair hits him with a low blow. Cena shoots off the ropes and knocks Show from the ring with a shoulder block.

After the break, the match is officially underway. Edge stomps away at HBK. Kenny tags in, slamming Michaels to the mat. Big Show tags in, and HBK fights back. Show responds with a leg drop. Kenny tags in, and hits a flying elbow. HBK is driven into the heel corner, as Edge tags in. Orton tags in for the RKO, but HBK blocks it. Cena and Kenny get hot tags, with Cena cleaning house. The champ hits a shoulder block and a spinning sideslam. Cena follows with the five-knuckle shuffle. The Big Show cuts off the F-U. Cena floats out of choke slam, and pushes Show into a chop for Flair. Triple H hits a face buster, and HBK follows with Sweet Chin Music that sends Show from the ring. Cena picks up Kenny and hits the F-U for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, and Ric Flair

After the match, every Survivor Series team hits the ring and brawl as the show goes off the air.
