Psichosis released from WWE
By SLAM! Wrestling

As had long been speculated and expected, Psichosis has been released from his contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.

The announcement, which seemed an inevitablility after the Mexican superstar had an apparent run in with the law a few weeks ago, came viaa release on wwe.com, which stated that, "WWE has come to terms on the release of Psicosis as of today, November 1. We wish Psicosis the best in all future endeavors."

Psichosis, real name Dionicio Castellanos Torres, had been with WWE for approximately one-and-a-half years, making his on-screen debut soon after the first ECW: One Night Stand pay-per-view. He was introduced to the WWE audience as one of the Mexicools, along with fellow ECW alumni Super Crazy and Juventud Guerrera, whom Psichosis had also spent a significant amount of time with in WCW.

The trio, who plied their trade on Smackdown, made an impact in both the Tag Team and Cruiserweight Divisions, though Guerrera was the only one to hold a title in the Fed (the Cruiserweight belt). After Juvi was released in Winter 2005/2006, Psichosis and Super Crazy continued to work as a duo, but soon split as they both competed for the Cruiserweight strap. Eventually, the split was made official when Super Crazy appeared on Raw. Since that time, Psichosis had not appeared on WWE TV.

Psichosis first gained attention in North America in ECW, following several years in Mexico and Japan. He was brought into the company along with Guerrera and Rey Mysterio Jr. (among others) as "Extreme Luchadores" and caught on with the fans. Not long after, however, he would be recruited by WCW and would have a successful run with the Atlanta-based company, winning the Cruiserweight Title on two occasions, as well as being involved in several memorable matches with Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon and others.

During his run in WCW, Psichosis (or Psychosis, as his moniker was spelled during this period) was a part of the lWo (Latino World Order) and was paired with Juventud and La Parka for a short time. It was also during this stint that Psichosis lost his mask.

Shortly after departing from WCW near the end of the company's run, Psichosis returned to ECW before it closed as well. After the company closed, Psichosis competed in Mexico and other markets, at times using the name Nicho El Millonario.
