As WWE fans, we're used to seeing previews coming on a regular basis for the
latest DVDs to hit the market.
Yes, every couple months you'll see the latest word from KOCH on WWE products
set to hit the market here in Canada, here on SLAM! Wrestling. Today, however,
we're looking into two other realms that wrestling fans have been getting excited
about over the last number of weeks.
Topps WWE Heritage II
Back for a fourth set of trading cards dedicated to the Fed's mat wars, Topps
has retured with a brand new edition of the popular Heritage line.
Released earlier this week, Heritage once again draws on Topps' rich history,
incorporating a couple different designs from the early years of the company.
Like it's predecessor, Heritage II includes the top WWE wrestlers, Divas and
Legends in a large base set.
One of the big draws this time around, undoubtedly, will be the Turkey Red
inserts. For those not familiar with the cards, Turkey Reds were initially released
as a baseball set in the late 1800s, utilizing artistic renditions of photographs.
With separate cards for hobby and retail distribution, there will be a strong
dual pursuit for this beautiful set.
Returning are event-used cards and autographs, as well as a few special suprises
that will surely be hits with collectors of all ages.
Smackdown vs. Raw 2007
As much as wrestling fans have enjoyed the 2006 incarnation of the strong Playstation
2 brand, the latest edition is looking like it will be better than its predecessor.
Slated for release in November, Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 improves on what many
were calling the best wrestling game since No Mercy. With even clearer graphics
and more detail on the wrestlers, the appearance of the new game will be reason
enough to pick it up.
Of course, the boys and girls at THQ have made a number of other improvements
to gameplay, including new capabilities such as going over the guardrail for
some action in the stands, as well as some improved environment interactivity.
In total, 40 WWE stars, plus a number of legends, are included in the game.
Smackdown! vs. Raw will be available for PS2, PSP and XBox 360 consoles.
