Countdown to TNA Bound For Glory
By SLAM! Wrestling Staff
Never in the history of this pay-per-view has the title been more appropos. This event, in a lot of ways, signals TNA's true arrival on the major show scene, none more important than their first-ever non-Orlando PPV. As much as the match results will be important here, the true test will be the gate TNA brings in away from the friendly confines of the Impact Zone. There's a definitely big-event feel to the show as well, with the arrival of Kurt Angle and some well thought-out gimmick matches. Let's get to the action.
SLAM! Predictions This feud has been building for some time now, but unfortunately the whole
insertion of Samoa Joe into the mix has made Sting an afterthought. Sting has
to win, otherwise what was the whole point of his whole year in TNA?
SLAM! Predictions
Assuming they've learned from last time and don't screw it up with more Jackassery, this should be a great match. Senshi still has a lot to offer as champ, so I don't think Sabin's hometown advantage is going to help him on this night. Matt Mackinder Id love to see Sabin win the belt in his home state. Both of these guys are solid workers. In my mind, the X Division is head and shoulders above WWEs Cruiserweight Division, and this match will prove it. Sabin gets the gold. Ed Ludwig The champion Senshi will retain the X-Division title in what should be an all out war of athleticism by two finely tuned athletes. Styles make fights, so to speak, and Senshi and Sabin work well together. Senshi wins clean.
SLAM! Predictions Bob Kapur Christian Cage vs. Rhino (8-Mile Street Fight) - This is a match custom-made for former ECW champ Rhino. He sends Christian back to Canada in an ambulance. Raven vs. Runt vs. Abyss vs. Samoa Joe (Monster's Ball) - With due respect to the other participants, Samoa Joe is too much of a star to be in this match. I think he walks away, leaving the other guys to pound each other to oblivion. Eric Young vs. Larry Zybysko (Loser is Fired) - Don't fire Eric! Don't fire Eric! Don't fire Eric! Kevin Nash Invitational - New drinking game - take a sip every time someone comes off the top rope or does a dive through or over the ropes to the floor. A returning Austin Aries wins. Matt Mackinder Christian Cage vs. Rhino (8-Mile Street Fight) - In the end, I see the Gore! Gore! Gore! winning it for the "War Machine." If Monty Brown gets invloved, Cage wins. Raven vs. Runt vs. Abyss vs. Samoa Joe (Monster's Ball) - My gut feeling says Runt somehow wins this, but my mind says Joe. Always go with your gut. Runt wins in an upset. Eric Young vs. Larry Zybysko (Loser is Fired) - Larry Z adds flavor to TNA, so if he loses, where does he go? Hard one to pick here, but I give it to Young. Kevin Nash Invitational - Petey Williams gets the win. Alex Shelley hasnt had a lot of luck lately, so maybe it comes down to those two. Ed Ludwig Christian Cage vs. Rhino (8-Mile Street Fight) - Hometown boy Rhino will win a bloodbath against former friend Christian Cage. Raven vs. Runt vs. Abyss vs. Samoa Joe (Monster's Ball) - This hardcore war on paper looks like it could be a brutal yet extremely entertaining match.Abyss is a solid performer who is deserving of a bigger push. Sunday night he makes a statement and finishes of Samoa Joe for the win. Eric Young vs. Larry Zybysko (Loser is Fired) - The runt of former Team Canada wins in quick fashion. Expect more comedy then actual wrestling here. Kevin Nash Invitational - Nothing more than a filler match. If Nash is in it he wins, otherwise who really knows and who cares? Visit the SLAM!
