Impact: Angle arrives, along with a Snake
By CHRIS SOKOL -- SLAM! Wrestling

It's finally going to happen -- Kurt Angle officially steps foot into the Impact Zone on this edition of Impact. What kind of a reaction will he receive? Will any more bridges get burned in the process? Will the imminent feud with Samoa Joe begin? Place your bets and read the report to find out.

The show began with a replay of last week's events. In retrospect, a fairly dull, but still eventful Impact.

Mike Tenay stood in the ring with some legal documents and announced that if Samoa Joe didn't hand over the NWA Heavyweight Championship, he would be removed from the active roster. Don West ran down the show while Tenay did the dirty work. As all this pandemonium was ensuing, Abyss, Raven and Brother Runt came barreling out of the back and into the ring. James Mitchell came along for the ride to instruct Abyss in his path of destruction. Mitchell did a good job, as Abyss cleaned house. All was well and good until the lights went out and came back on to reveal Jake "The Snake" Roberts in the ring. He took out his snake, which scared Abyss out of the ring. Runt came in from behind and took the snake bag and told Roberts to put the snake in, only for Roberts to serve up an old school DDT. Roberts grabbed the mic and said that he would not only be the Special Referee, but a guide in the Monsters Ball Match at Bound For Glory. Nostalgia effect was there, but it's still not the same Jake.

Jeremy Borash was waiting out in the parking lot when Kurt Angle pulled up. Angle told Borash that it was damn real before heading in. Angle is going to be such a credit to that locker room. With his knowledge and personality he is a perfect fit.

TNA gets Starr Struck at Bound For Glory. Austin Aries finally returns.

Mike Tenay and Don West were a buzz over Angle's arrival as we went to the ring for the opening contest...

Match One - "Captain Charisma" Christian Cage vs. "Screamin" Norman Smiley

Norman Smiley got squashed like it was WWF Superstars.

Winner Via Pinfall - "Captain Charisma" Christian Cage

Post Match - Cage beatdown Smiley and put him in a straight jacket. Shark Boy came out to make the save and was also beatdown. Rhino came out and chased Cage out of the ring, leading to a staredown and some hype for their Bound For Glory encounter.

Borash was back in the parking lot when Eric Young came out and said that at Bound For Glory he will be facing Larry Zbyzsko in a Loser Leaves Match. He also mentioned that Samoa Joe was actually in the building and said that he would keep his word and that the title would stay with him. Borash hyped the fact that Joe and Angle were in the same building and they might collide. Of course they will.

Back from commercial break, Borash stood by with Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt who were making fun of Senshi while playing Mortal Combat. Jerry Lynn came in and reprimanded their actions. Senshi came in and attacked the X Divisioners, fighting Lethal down the ramp and to the ring...

Match Two - Senshi vs. Jay Lethal

Senshi was strong, dominant and on top of his game.

Winner Via Pinfall - Senshi

Post Match - Chris Sabin ran down and caught a beating, taking a double stomp as Senshi left with the X Division title. Sabin is going to take it in his hometown; it's a given.

The Kevin Nash X Division Gauntlet Press Conference was up next. Easily the best segment on Impact. These Nash and Alex Shelley pieces are absolutely hilarious. Nash hyped different joke celebrities as taking part in the match, but was proud to announce that Alex Shelley was an official entrant. Awesome work.

Mike Tenay did a sit-down interview with BG James, where James talked all good about "The King of the Mountain." James said that Jarrett has done a lot for him and he will not tolerate the slander that is being talked about him. Okay?

Match Three - AMW and LAX w/ Gail Kim and Konnan vs. The James Gang, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels

Great action, with LAX, Styles and Daniels giving a little taste of what kind of fury is going to be unleashed at Bound For Glory. Lots of great action, the heels broke down and started arguing, which allowed Styles to roll Homicide up and pick up the win for his team.

Winners Via Pinfall - The James Gang, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels

Post Match - LAX and AMW got at each other, with Kim getting piefaced by Konnan, Konnan getting bitchslapped by Kim and Kim getting tossed across the border by Hernandez. Awesome ending. It was also announced that at Bound For Glory it would be The James Gang vs. The Naturals vs. Team 3D vs. AMW. Same old, same old. 3D will pick up the duke.

A final Sting video package aired to hype his third or fourth return to TNA ... whatever.

Samoa Joe was due out to hand over the NWA Heavyweight Championship. Earl Hebner was put in charge of the documents. Joe came out and proceeded to rip up the documents. Kurt Angle then emerged from the tunnel way and hit the ring. Joe laid the belt down and took a headbutt from Angle followed by the Olympic Slam. Joe got up and came from behind Angle, hitting him with a vicious kick. The two then grappled to the ground as security came out to break them up. Jarrett came running down, but stopped before he hit the ring, then headed back through the tunnel. Tremendous ending to Impact.

Fozzy's new single, Enemy was used in the closing package to hype Bound For Glory.
