Impact: Bound for Glory takes shape
By CHRIS SOKOL -- SLAM! Wrestling

Kurt Angle in TNA? What is going on? The announcement of Kurt Angle's arrival in TNA has got to be the biggest surprise in TNA history and definitely a major coup for the brand. Will Impact be able to hold up to the hype Angle has created for it? Read the report to check out how they did.

The show started on the right note, with a replay of the Kurt Angle hype video that caused a huge stir and several crashes of the TNA Website. Tremendous job, TNA really delivered with this announcement.

Mike Tenay and Don West continued to put over the Angle announcement as they sent it to the ring for...

Match One - Non-Title Match - Lance Hoyt vs. "The King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett

Hoyt was coming down the ramp when he was attacked from behind and demolished by Jarrett, who gave him absolutely no shot at an offensive attack. Jarrett tossed Hoyt all over, whipping and choking him. Finally the referee had had enough and called for the bell, disqualifying Jarrett.

Winner Via DQ - Lance Hoyt

Post Match - Jarrett got on the mic and complained to Jim Cornette about Samoa Joe stealing his title. He showed Cornette the scars on his back and promised revenge on Joe.

In a pre-taped press conference, Jim Cornette made several announcements for Bound for Glory. First he announced that it would be Monster's Ball, Abyss vs. Raven vs. Brother Runt vs. Samoa Joe. He also announced that Senshi would defend the X Division championship against Chris Sabin and Kurt Angle would make his TNA debut.

In the back, Samoa Joe was shown standing with the Heavyweight Championship.

A. Starr promo was shown. Will this gimmick actually last or will TNA drop him again?

Match Two - "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe vs. Raven

Hard hitting, Brother Runt came down and interfered, allowing Joe to lock in the Rear Naked Choke and force Raven to submit.

Winner Via Submission - "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe

Post Match - The Monster's Ball competitors brawled it out. Jim Cornette came down to get the belt back, but Joe held onto it and told him to tell Jarrett or Sting to come get it from him. Angle vs. Joe coming up?

Sting's DVD is coming out by the way.

A video package was shown of the feud between Christian Cage and Rhino. They then went back to the press conference, where Rhino announced that at Bound for Glory, the two would fight in an Eight Mile Street Fight. Should be a real good match.

Match Three - Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) vs. Brandon Thomaselli and Von Doring

Welcome back sqaush match.

Winners Via Pinfall - Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

Post Match - They did their whole spiel about being back and coming after the tag titles.

A Jeff Jarrett vs. Sting video package came on next. This feud better thin out after Bound for Glory. It's getting stale.

Back at the press conference, Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell talked about Sting coming to Bound For Glory, set and ready to compete. They assured that Sting would come out victorious over Jeff Jarrett.

Another Sting video package was shown with clips from Buff Bagwell and Lex Luger.

In the back, Jeremy Borash spoke with Jeff Jarrett, who called "Showtime" Eric Young over and told him to get his belt back for him. Young didn't do the job, but instead stood behind and had a weird exchange with Borash. Okay...

Match Four - Senshi and Papparazzi Productions (Alex Shelley and "Hotshot" Johnny Devine") vs. Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt and Chris Sabin

Great match, however, it's still questionable as to why TNA is using Lethal, Dutt and Sabin as Jackass stuntmen. Sure, there could be some sense found in it, the fact that they want to portray them as daring and stuff, but there are much better ways to do that. They are faces and they win like heels. This go around, Lethal used a suitcase to defeat Devine and get his team the win.

Winners Via Pinfall - Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt and Chris Sabin

An LAX vs. AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels video was shown. It will be Six Sides of Steel for the tag belts at Bound for Glory. Great feud top to bottom.

The press conference made its way to the ring. Jim Cornette talked a bit and announced that at Bound For Glory, Kurt Angle would be the special guest enforcer in the Jarrett vs. Sting match. Jeff Jarrett came out and knocked down Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell who were with Cornette. Joe came out and the two brawled as Impact ended.
