Countdown to WWE Great American Bash

It's time we let you in on a little secret.
You see, much like the wrestling brand we're featuring today, SLAM! Wrestling records
our PPV picks in advance of the final card being announced. That's why we often
will miss certain matches, but then again, it's not like degrading women's matches
really need that much coverage right?
Anyways, much like the famous WCW tapings that happened before title changes,
the SLAM! Wrestling crew made their picks long before Bobby Lashley was put on the shelf.
So keep that in mind when reading that prediction.
Now, with kayfabe completely shattered, let's get on with the preview!

MAIN EVENT: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
MATCH
King Booker vs. Rey Mysterio |
| |
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
The thinking has to be Booker here. Batista needs a heel to square off with
from Summerslam to Survivor Series, and King Booker is the perfect opponent.
Matt Mackinder
Let me get this straight. Booker can't beat the Boogeyman. He can't beat Bobby
Lashley for the U.S. title, yet he's in a program with Rey Mysterio for the
World Championship? If the Book wins, I'll be shocked. Rey continues his underdog
reign.
Bob Kapur
I have to question why theyd do this match on Smackdown two nights before
the PPV - strange planning. Booker has been hugely entertaining recently, so
I would love to see the belt on him. But I think theyre going to wait
and have Rey drop it to Batista at the SummerSlam.
Greg Oliver
If ever there was a time for a six-time, six-time, six-time champ, this would
be it. Then Batista can beat a bad guy for the belt at SummerSlam, and Rey moves
on to a feud with Chavo Guerrero, who costs him the title here.

INJURY SUBSTITUTION MATCH
Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Well, we know Batista goes over, but what damage will be done to Mr. Kennedy?
Well, much like Rock, who denied ever losing to Undertaker, Kennedy could say
the match didn't count or something and rally his fans. Big Dave wins.
Matt Mackinder
This is the best WWE could come up with for Batista? Then again, SmackDown's
roster is rather weak, so Kennedy is probably one of the top five on the roster.
But at the Bash, the Batista Bomb overcomes the Kenton Bomb.
Bob Kapur
For his return match, they had to have planned for Batista to absolutely crush
Mark Henry. Though his opponent has changed, the result wont. Getting
squashed wont impact Kennedy too much - he has too much charisma for the
fans to care - so choosing him as the replacement opponent was a good way to
go.
Greg Oliver
Wouldn't it just make Mr. Kennedy if he upset Batista? They'd have a new top-level
star to push who oozes charisma. That's why big Dave wins, unfortunately.

PUNJABI PRISON MATCH
Great Khali vs. Undertaker |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Does anyone ever win "their" match anymore? 'Taker goes over here,
and this may be the last time we see Khali whatsoever.
Matt Mackinder
Some explanation of this match may be needed. Is it like Hell In A Cell? Jailhouse
Match? Will both guys juice? I need answers here, people. In any event, I give
the win to Khali as his push keeps on the upswing.
Bob Kapur
Taker has the ability to put on some great matches, but I think hell have
his work cut out for him here. Maybe the gimmick will help -- if they make it
really violent and bloody, maybe people wont notice how bad Khali really
is. Taker wins.
Greg Oliver
Ugh. Ugh. The less said the better. This feud had better be done by SummerSlam
and Khali moves on outta here. Khali wins with Big Show's help.
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Bobby Lashley vs. Fit Finlay vs. William Regal (US Title) - Sue me. I
like the little leprauchan. Finlay wins.
Kendrick/London vs. Pitbulls (WWE Tag Team Titles) - Match of the night,
hands down. the KL Connection wins.
Matt Mackinder
Bobby Lashley vs. Fit Finlay vs. William Regal (US Title) - I'd love
to see Lashley regain the gold, but odds are Finlay retains. I still think it's
funny seeing the U.S. title on non-Americans i.e. Chris Benoit and now Finlay.
Kendrick/London vs. Pitbulls (WWE Tag Team Titles) - Kash and Noble each
have singles wins over Kendrick and London, but that doesn't mean much now.
Or does it? The champs fall and a summer of rematches begins.
Bob Kapur
Bobby Lashley vs. Fit Finlay vs. William Regal (US Title) - Id
rather see Finlay and Regal in a singles match, but what can you do? Lashley
wins strongly, and even hands the little leprechaun some well-due comeuppance.
Kendrick/London vs. Pitbulls (WWE Tag Team Titles) - Given enough time,
this should be the match of the night. Kendrick and London retain.
Greg Oliver
Bobby Lashley vs. Fit Finlay vs. William Regal (US Title) - Finlay retains.
Kendrick/London vs. Pitbulls (WWE Tag Team Titles) - Match of the night.
Pitbulls.
