Raw: Umaga upsets Cena
By DALE PLUMMER - SLAM! Wrestling

After a week in counseling to cope with the return of the Diva search, (which as extended its tentacles to the once safe haven of Smackdown!) I'm back. RAW comes to us from San Antonio, Texas.

DX has a public service announcement and if you're not down with that I got two word for ya: SUCK IT! Triple H and HBK then enter the arena to a very vocal ovation. HBK shills the new DX shirts. Hunter also pimps the classic DX shirt. Hunter has noticed that Vince is angry and on edge, because of what they did to him. Hunter doesn't know what they did. HBK says the McMahons are angry and they want DX in the ring. Hunter says no one wants to see that match, but the crowd pops otherwise. Hunter decides to make the match, and HBK says it's official. Hunter ask if they can do it, to which HBK says, "Who's gonna stop us?"

Cue Vince's music. The chairman walks out on stage with Shane. Vince says last time he checked DX doesn't run things, he does. Vince shoots down the challenge with Shane-O-Mac. Instead, HBK will face Shane one on one. Shane says Trips can be in HBK's corner, since Vince will be in his. Shane says he will defeat Michaels 1-2-3.

(Remember all those good things I said about Todd Grisham a while back? I take it all back and then some. He just announced the next match as the number one contender match for the CRUISERWEIGHT title. Wrong belt? Try wrong SHOW! Even JR calls him out on it.)

Match # 1 -- Carlito vs. Shelton Benjamin -- Number contender match -- Intercontinental Title

Shelton and Carlito lock up. Shelton takes Carlito down with an arm drag. Carlito lands on his feet after a missed moonsault, but can't duck a kick from Benji. Carlito fights out of a chin lock. Carlito hits a knee lift, and then ducks a clothesline. He counters with a springboard back elbow. Shelton counters the backcracker, and nearly gets the pin. Carlito counters into a roll up and holds onto the ropes for the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Carlito

Trish runs into Carlito, almost literally. The two really seem taken with each other.

Match #2 -- Trish Stratus and Torrie Wilson vs. Mickie James and Victoria -- Special Referee Candice Michelle

Trish hits Stratusfaction on Victoria to get the pin.

Winner by pinfall: Trish Stratus and Torrie Wilson

Maria interviews Umaga and AAE. Estrada says Cena has been in a downward spiral since he lost the title, and it will continue. Maria asks Umaga if this is his biggest match; Umaga just stares her down.

Mick Foley joins us from WWE headquarters. Foley wants to talk about Ric Flair. Foley rebukes Flair's comments from last week. Mick says he wasn't trying to win; he just wanted to lay him out. Foley says he doesn't want a rematch, EVER.

Lillian Garcia is out of action, after accidentally getting dropped by Viscera. Maria wants answers, but Haas and Vic won't answer.

(Diva search recap time. As if Smackdown needed another reason not to watch.)

Match #3 -- The Highlanders vs. Jobber tag team

(Seriously, we've had more jobbers show up on RAW this year then the past five combined. This should send up a red flag to end the brand split.) The Scott drop is hit early, and the Highlanders win.

Winner via pinfall: The Highlanders

After the match, the Highlanders says they came to win a championship. They officially challenge the Spirit Squad.

Backstage, the Highlanders run into DX. Hunter welcomes them to the U.S., and says they should meet with Vince. They tell them to go to his office, and wait. Also they should speak up, and then pat him on the butt.

Matt Striker is in the ring to teach a math lesson. "Edge > Cena" is on the board. Striker says he doesn't think anyone in Texas could get it, and then brings out John Cena. Striker says Saturday night proved Edge is greater then Cena. The champ says it means Edge got slammed through announce table since Lita cost him the title. Tonight, Cena has to kick someone's butt. Striker hightails it out of the ring, and Umaga makes his way to the ring. Cena goes right after Umaga, hitting a belly-to-belly suplex, and smashing his head into the ring. Umaga blocks a shot in the corner, and then tosses Cena through the backboard.

Match #4 -- John Cena vs. Umaga

The bell finally rings, as Cena is laid out. A chop sends Cena to mat, and then a head butt. Cena fights back, and a shot to the throat slows him down. Umaga slams Cena, and follows with a knee. Cena hits a DDT, and follows with a drop toe hold, but cannot lock in the STFU. Cena is nearly beheaded with a clothesline, and Umaga hangs him in a tree of woe. Umaga hits a flying head butt, as Edge and Lita walk down the ramp. Cena slips from the ring to confront Edge, but is attacked from behind. Umaga tosses him into the ring steps, and then drags him into the ring. Umaga climbs the turnbuckle, but misses a splash. Cena hits a series of clotheslines, and slams the Samoan Bulldozer to the mat. Cena hits the five-knuckle shuffle. Edge hits the ring, but is set up in the F-U. Umaga kicks Cena in the face, and hits Cena with the Samoan Spike for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Umaga

The Highlanders are eating Vince's catering. Vince is happy that they are yelling at him, and orders them out of the office.

Match #5 -- Randy Orton vs. Eugene

Eugene still has green paint on his pads from last week. Eugene imitates Orton, but Orton hits the RKO to win.

Winner via pinfall: Randy Orton

After the match, Orton says he won't take advantage of Brooke Hogan. He says her song will be a hit, but the greatest hit was at SNME when he RKO'd Hulk Hogan. (During Orton's promo, did anyone else see him flash the People's Eyebrow?)

Foley is back to give a shout out to Melina. Foley wants to comment on Flair's match with Big Show in ECW. Foley says his still isn't getting a rematch, since he has nothing left to prove. Foley says Flair is out of his life.

Flair heads to the ring. He says he got his butt kicked last week. Flair goes on a rant, and says he wants Foley in a hardcore match. Melina and Nitro hit the ring instead. Nitro says he's a good friend of Foley, and Foley is down with Flair. Melina gets in Flair's face, only to have Nitro take him out. Flair dodges a leg drop, and chops out Nitro's leg. Nitro counters the figure four, but kicks Flair into Melina, knocking her off the apron. Flair wants a message delivered to Foley, "Woooooo!"

The Diva search is next. Layla is safe from elimination, but Amy gets the axe.

Vince and Shane meet in the back. Shane takes HBK, while Vince will take care of Triple H. Shane pulls a sign off of his dad's back. DX strike again, and they got Shane, too.

Match #6 -- Shawn Michaels w/ Triple H vs. Shane McMahon w/ Vince McMahon

Hunter does the intro, and then a commercial. We return with the match in progress. HBK flips Shane with a back body drop. HBK dumps Shane over the ropes, and skins the cat. Michaels then hits a springboard moonsault. HBK works over Shane on the ramp. Shane cuts HBK down coming off the turnbuckle. Shane takes down HBK with an elbow, and then Shane kips up. Shane-O nails an inverted atomic drop, and follows with a slam. Shane climbs the turnbuckle, and drops an elbow into HBK. Michaels blocks a superkick from Shane, and starts to build momentum. HBK goes up high, and drops on elbow on Shane. HBK warms up the band, but is stopped by Vince. Triple H chases Vince to the back, as the Spirit Squad ambushes Michaels. Shane hits a low blow; Hunter tries to make the save, but is tossed from the ring. HBK lands on his feet after The High Spirits, but is still beat down. The Squad hits High Spirits, and Hunter takes a chair shot from Shane. The Game returns with the trusty sledge and clears the ring.

Winner via DQ: HBK
