Raw: DX shares stage with ECW
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

The new ECW started off with a bang last night, which means Monday Night RAW will definitely feel the tremors and repercussions. I don't know if the crowd in State College, Pennsylvania will be as hot as the crowd last night. Although, ECW fans are the hooligans of the wrestling world.

(Not that's a bad thing. And yes, I have been watching World Cup soccer.)

Paul Heyman addresses the crowd from in front of an ECW banner. Heyman explains that last night's Cena-RVD was legit and the decision stands [See the One Night Stand PPV report]. Tuesday night, the WWE Title will be re-christened as the ECW Title. Edge is still the number one contender, and will wrestle for the belt at Vengeance. Heyman the invited Edge and Lita to the ceremony tomorrow on Sci-Fi.

Match # 1 -- Randy Orton vs. Kane

(Was anyone else wishing that Kurt Angle really break Orton's ankle? Or is it just me? Hopefully part of Orton's punishment is having to job for a while.)

Orton avoids Kane, and then gets a quick right in. Kane tosses Orton into the corner, but counters with a back elbow. Orton stomps on the Big Red Machine in the corner, and then sends him to the mat with a standing drop kick. Kane sits up, and kicks Orton to the mat. A corner splash sets up a sidewalk slam from Kane. Orton is leveled with a flying clothesline off the turnbuckle, and the third generation superstar counters a choke slam by grabbing the ropes. Kane fights Orton up the ramp, and both men are counted out.

Double Count Out

Orton tries for an RKO on the ramp, but is blocked by Kane. The imposter Kane shows up and grabs Kane. Both men trade blows, until Kane is knocked off the stage by his doppelganger.

Charlie Haas heads to the ring, as they show how he accidentally knocked Lillian Garcia off the ropes. Haas says he made a mistake, and someone innocent got hurt. He asks Lillian to the ring. Haas apologizes, and says it was an accident. Lillian is about to reply, when Big Viscera interrupts, and he doesn't look happy. Vis says Lillian may accept his apology, but he doesn't. Haas is laid out with a clothesline, and then is whipped into the corner. Vis hits a big splash in the corner, and then on the mat. Lillian pleads for the big man to stop, and he obliges.

Coach is setting up the set for Vince McMahon's State of the WWE address. (I'm glad they are using Coach's character soooo well.)

After the break, King whines about getting choked out, and then Eugene getting destroyed by Sandman. Eugene is in the back licking his wounds, and tells Hacksaw Jim Duggan that he's worried about his match with Umaga. Hacksaw isn't worried and gets Eugene all fired up, until he leaves.

Vince McMahon is behind his desk for his speech. Apparently WWE has re-launched ECW and it debuts tomorrow, and RVD is WWE champion. The more important thing is Vince getting Pedigreed last week. Vince wants Triple H to think about what happened to HBK, so tonight HHH will take on all five members if the Spirit Squad. Vince wants a slow death, so it will be a gauntlet match.

Match #2 -- Torrie Wilson vs. Candice Michelle -- Wet and Wild Match

So the winner of this match will appear on the cover of the WWE Summer Special magazine. Okaaay. And there are water guns and water balloons in the ring, which are legal, but you still have to pin your opponent. Candice misses the Go Daddy elbow, and Torrie hits her with a drop kick. Torrie hits a face buster, and gets the pin.

Winner (men everywhere...I mean) via pinfall: Torrie Wilson

After the match, Torrie fires some water balloons at J.R. and King.

Match #3 -- Triple H vs. The Spirit Squad -- 5 on 1 Gauntlet Match

Vince walks on stage before the match mocking Triple H. Vince then orders the ref to leave, and then shows the footage of the Spirit Squad destroying HBK.

Mikey is the first one in. A running knee drop followed by a knee lift lays out Mikey. Vince calls out Kenny to the ring. Kenny breaks up a Pedigree attempt, and HHH is double teamed in the corner. Mikey misses a corner splash, and The Game hits a neck breaker on Kenny. Mikey is sent over the top rope to the floor, and Kenny is hit with a spine buster. Johnny and Nicky hit the ring, and Triple H tries to fight out of the attack. Triple H slips to the outside, but is whipped face first into the steps. Mikey then chokes Hunter with a cable. Back in the ring, Hunter is met with High Spirits. Kenny grabs a chair, and wraps it around Hunter's leg. Vince stops the attack, and orders the chair to be placed around his neck. Vince calls for Mitch, who is thrown out of the back. Vince is stunned as HBK walks out, and nails Mitch with Sweet Chin Music. HBK hits the ring, and cleans house. Triple H regains his footing, and joins in the fun. Michaels deals out another dose of Sweet Chin Music, while Hunter nails a pedigree. The two high five, and then give Vince a crotch chop. DX is back! DX is back! Triple climbs the turnbuckle and moons the chairman. Vince isn't amused.

(And yes, I know the DX re-union wasn't a matter of if, but when. And I didn't see it coming, tonight. Although, the ad after ECW ONS was all about DX being at Vengeance, so I guess they had to get together tonight. And yes, I know I'm rambling...)

No Contest

Vince and the Spirit Squad boys are beside themselves. Vince says they will get rid of DX at Vengeance.

Match #4 -- Hacksaw Jim Duggan w/ Eugene vs. Umaga w/ Armando Alejandro Estrada

Duggan tries to grab the upper hand by attacking Umaga as he enters the ring. Umaga intercepts Duggan's 2x4 and breaks it over his own head. Umaga makes short work of Duggan with the Samoan Spike.

Winner via pinfall: Umaga

Eugene tries to help his friend, but is attacked by Umaga. Estrada ties him up in the ropes, and is then charged by Umaga.

Mick Foley heads to the ring. Foley says his injuries should heal in about a week, but most importantly the old Mick Foley is back. Foley says it's time to start a new chapter in his life, but is then interrupted by Ric Flair. Foley wants to know why the Nature Boy is in the ring. Flair says he doesn't care about last night; Flair wants to talk about Foley. Flair says the only person he is on even footing is Joe Paterno. Flair calls Foley a glorified stuntman. The Nature Boy says he is sick of people talking about Foley falling off the cell. Foley says people don't care about Flair's legacy, and says he'll never be in his league. Foley tells Flair he could rip him apart. Flair goes nuts, and wants to go now. Foley says he could take him out in snap, but just not right now. Flair wants to know what he has to do to get him in the ring, now. Foley issues a challenge to Flair at Vengeance, and it's strictly wrestling, two out of three falls. Flair accepts.

Match #5 -- Johnny Nitro w/ Melina vs. Carlito

Shelton Benjamin joins the crew at the announce table. Shelton seems to appreciate Melina's entrance. Nitro chokes Carlito on the ropes, and the Melina joins in. Nitro lands on his feet after a back body drop, but can't dodge the springboard back elbow. Carlito hits a back body drop, but slips getting out of the ring. Shelton gets up, and helps Nitro counter the back cracker. Nitro hits his finisher, and pins Carlito.

Winner via pinfall: Johnny Nitro

Todd Grisham interview Mickie James. The women's champ says it funny that everyone that messes with her has bad luck. Mickie reveals that her and Beth Phoenix grew up together. Mickie says the belt will never leave her. Then Randy Orton shows up. Orton wants a return match at Vengeance. Orton wants the word spread -- Vengeance is his destiny.

The Highlanders hit New York, and eat out of the garbage. I can't wait.

Maria starts to introduce Edge, but Lita sends her on her way. Edge brags about changing the landscape of wrestling in the last 24 hours, and he will beat RVD at Vengeance. Edge accepts Heyman's invitation. Edge tells Cena he will never see the WWE Title again.

Stevie Richards, Justin Credible, and Balls Mahoney make their way out of the crowd to the front row, with tickets.

Match #6 -- John Cena vs. Edge

(By the way, I have 11:05 as Cena's music hits. I'm just saying...)

Cena jumps Edge right away, and the Rated R superstar tries to walk away. Cena brings Edge back the hard way, and stomps on him in the corner. Lita jumps on Cena, earning Edge the DQ.

Winner via DQ: John Cena

Edge tries to get protection from his ECW buddies, but Cena lays all three out with a steel chair. Cena grabs the mike and says he get a rude awaking last night. According to ECW, anyone can show up and do whatever they feel. And I like it; I really like it. Tomorrow night is the ECW debut, and I'm going to show up, and do whatever I want to.
