Smackdown: Mysterio annihilated
By ANDY McNAMARA - SLAM! Wrestling

Judgement Day is a mere nine days away and the final pieces for this pay-per-view are starting to fall into place. For one, we will find out who will face Booker T in the finals of the King Of The Ring tournament as Finlay takes on Lashely. The World Heavyweight Champion encounters possibly the biggest obstacle of his career…The Great Khali. Can Mysterio overcome the giant, or will JBL have the last laugh once again? From San Diego, California, here comes Smackdown!

Highlights from the decimation of Rey Mysterio by Bradshaw and Mark Henry is shown. JBL makes his way to the ring, runs down Mysterio, the Latino fans, and challenges Rey to keep his promise to face The Great Khali. He offers Mysterio and his family jobs to shine his shoes, and clean his kitchen. Rey has heard enough, rushing in and ambushing JBL. The Texan hightails it as security rips Mysterio away.

Match 1: Triple Threat #1 Contender Match for the Cruiserweight Championship- Kid Kash vs. Super Crazy vs. Nunzio

The champ, Gregory Helms makes his way down to the announce table before the competitors are announced. This match was underway last week before The Great Khali interrupted and made it a no contest. Kash jumps Nunzio from behind to start things off but is quickly tossed to the outside. Some too fast to call action goes on with all three men flying and trading momentum. Super Crazy hits an amazing senton from the top turnbuckle onto Kash, who was covering Nunzio! After a missed cross body off the top by Kash, Super Crazy rolls up Nunzio out of the electric chair for the victory. Super Crazy will face Gregory Helms at Judgement Day for the Cruiserweight title.

WINNER: Super Crazy

Kurt Angle confronts Teddy Long in his office demanding Mark Henry in a fight tonight. The GM says that Angle is not cleared medically to wrestle, and then makes a match between the two for Judgement Day.

Match 2: The Gymini vs. Joe Ryan & Mike Wellington

Enough with the squash matches for The Gymini! I get it, there big monsters who have some athletic skill, now get them in a storyline already. Not much to this bout as the end comes when The Gymini do the double team toss up in the air on Wellington to mercifully end this one.

WINNERS: The Gymini

Booker T and Sharmell dance on down to the ring and dictates to the audience that he’s “disappointed” he got a bye because of Kurt Angle’s injury. Booker says he’s going to give Angle to the count of ten to change his mind and come out to fight. Angle was escorted from the arena earlier, so Sharmell announced her husband as the winner.

Match 3: King Of The Ring semi-final- Finlay vs. Lashley

These two warriors have had exciting hard hitting battles off and on over the past few months, which continues tonight. Both Superstars take their time feeling each other out with Finlay frustrating the youngster and gaining the advantage. Lashley regains control after a monster gorilla press, dropping the Irishman onto his knee stomach first. Booker T and Sharmell come out and sit on the throne on the entrance ramp. Finlay tries to wear down Lashley with various submissions and ferocious clotheslines; however, the rookie will not stay down. Finlay nails Lashley with the steel chair, but this only seems to wake him up. Finlay then gets caught with a big time spear. Lashley covers for three and advances to the King Of The Ring final versus Booker T at Judgement Day.

WINNER: Lashley

Johnny Nitro and Joe Mercury grab the mic and claim that MNM are the greatest tag team champs of all time. They show the footage from last week when MNM delivered three Snap Shots onto London and Kendrick. Jillian Hall interrupts Melina and the two insult one another, setting up their match for Judgement Day. This time it is MNM who are ambushed by London & Kendrick, and the tag challengers strip the trio down to their underwear.

Match 4: Mark Henry vs. Paul Burchill

Henry immediately over powers Burchill, sending the pirate flying all over. Burchill is being assaulted and is delivering no offence whatsoever. The World’s Strongest Man even grabs a mic during the match and says that the same beating is going to happen to Kurt Angle. Following that, Henry powerslam’s Burchill and that is all she wrote.

WINNER: Mark Henry

Vito is in the back with Nunzio who tells his partner to go shower and they’ll go out on the town. After Vito leaves, Orlando Jordan tells Nunzio he thought he saw Vito dressed in drag last week in London. Nunzio tells him off and that is that.

JBL rides out in his limo to get a ringside view of the upcoming main event: Rey Mysterio versus The Great Khali

Match 5: Main Event-Non-title: Rey Mysterio (c) vs. The Great Khali

Rey will have to feed off of the energy from his hometown fans to have a shot in this contest. Before Khali even comes out Mysterio attacks Bradshaw as he sits at the announce table. That scuffle is stopped by officials and now the 7’3” 420lbs monster stands toe to toe with Rey. Mysterio’s head is only up to the bottom of Khali’s chest! Khali keeps catching Rey and tossing him out of the ring like a rag doll. The giant double choke slams Mysterio, following an ineffective dropkick, and pins him with one foot. A total squash and complete domination by The Great Khali. JBL comes into the ring and says Rey let his family and friends in the audience down. Bradshaw foreshadows that Mysterio will have to face yet another competitor next week and then shoves him out of the ring. Things do not look good for the World champ heading into the final week before Judgment Day.
