Impact: Tagging into Lockdown
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
TNA has one more Impact in store before we arrive at Lockdown. With three multi-man tag matches in store, it is evident that TNA has some serious cramming to do. They say too many chefs spoil the dinner, but will too many tag matches spoil this Impact? Read the report and find out.
Match One - Eight Man Tag Team Match - Team USA (Jay Lethal, Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt and Alex Shelley) vs. Team Canada (A-1, Petey Williams, Bobby Roode, Eric Young)
Lethal started things out with Eric Young, some back and forth action ensued, as Jerry Lynn popped up on the bottom of the screen to talk about the World X Cup. Alex Shelley tried to play neutral, but wound up taking a beating from A-1. Once Shelley fought out, Lethal made the tag in and got the offensive game going once again for Team USA. Dutt made the tag next and continued to work over Team Canada. One final tag to Lethal proved to be fatal, as the up-and-comer got caught in a pump handle sit out slam for the one-two-three.
Winners Via Pinfall - Team Canada (A-1, Petey Williams, Bobby Roode, Eric Young)
They played a Samoa Joe vs. Sabu hype video. Again, this match will be brutal.
Match Two - Six Man Tag Team Match - The Diamonds in the Rough (Simon Diamond, Elix Skipper and David Young) vs. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, "The War Machine" Rhino and Ron "The Truth" Killings
Truth and Styles took to the high flying early on, wiping out Young and Skipper with a pair of suicide dives. Skipper and Diamond got in some offense, beating up on "The Phenomenal One," before Rhino came in and cleaned house. A Pele and Axe Kick later and Skipper was down on the mat and covered for the win.
Winners Via Pinfall - "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, "The War Machine" Rhino and Ron "The Truth" Killings
In the back, Jeremy Borash spoke with TNA Commissioner, Larry Zybysko. Mark "Slick" Johnson came in and delivered a package from Raven. Zybysko was not exactly excited about receiving the package, but accepted it nonetheless. Could Raven finally be returning?
Christian Cage came out next and cut a promo on Abyss, but was interrupted by Father James Mitchell who appeared on the TNA-tron. Mitchell ran down the champ as Abyss came in from behind and attacked Cage. Cage attempted to back Abyss off, but his efforts were futile, as Abyss used his chain to choke him out. Security tried to help, but Abyss tossed a few of them around. This feud has been tremendous so far.
Match Three - Six Man Tag Team Match - Jeff Jarrett and America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris and James Storm) w/ Gail Kim and Jackie Gayda vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray, Brother Devon and Brother Runt)
This match was an all out brawl, with fighting taking place all over the Impact Zone. Once the fighting got back in the ring, everyone hit their finisher on each other. Brother Ray landed a couple of "Bubba Punches" on Jarrett, before getting caught with a low blow from Kim. Brother Runt didn't take kindly to her actions and gave her an Acid Drop for good measure. With the ref's back turned, Team Canada hit the ring, with Bobby Roode cracking Runt from behind with a hockey stick. Jarrett finished Runt off with The Stroke for the win.
Winners Via Pinfall - Jeff Jarrett and America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris and James Storm)
After the match, Rhino, AJ Styles, Ron Killings, Abyss, Christian Cage and Sting joined the mix, as another brawl made its way through the Impact Zone.
The show ended with a hype video for TNA Lockdown. Definitely looks like a pay-per-view to check out.
Chris Sokol is from Long Island,
NY and is upset with the decision to call Spike Dudley, "Brother Runt." Wouldn't "Brother Matt" be a little better?
