DETROIT - The final card has been announced for this Friday's TNA house show in suburban Detroit and the main event has been changed for obvious reasons.
Originally hyped as an NWA World title match between Rhino and then-champion Jeff Jarrett, the main event is now new NWA champ Christian Cage defending against Jarrett. Cage has a history in the Detroit area, as he worked independents in the area in the mid-1990s before breaking into the WWE.
Rhino has been bumped into a three-way bout with hardcore legend Sabu and "The Monster" Abyss.
Simon Diamond will now battle Shark Boy as A1 is now listed on the "Also Appearing" sidebar along with Team Canada's Scott D'Amore and Eric Young and the Detroit-based Insane Clown Posse.
Other matches include: Samoa Joe vs. "The Phenomenal" A.J. Styles; America's Most Wanted defending the NWA tag team titles against The Naturals, Chris Sabin vs. "Alpha Male" Monty Brown, Team Canada's Petey Williams vs. Alex Shelley and Team Canada's Bobby Roode vs. Jerry Lynn.
There has been no mention from TNA on appearances by Sting or Scott Steiner.
Insane Clown Posse is helping with local promotion and booking of the show. ICP has worked with TNA in the past, and their appearances with TNA brought the company their largest paying crowds in history. TNA is hoping the rap duo's fan base will help repeat that.
It is unknown what roll ICP will play in the event. The two will make an appearance but it appears the two will not be wrestling. They are booking the show, and with these two in charge, anything can and might happen.
ICP ran a successful wrestling tour in the late 1990s called Juggalo Championshit Wrestling. The two are longtime wrestling fans and have made numerous wrestling references in their lyrics. The two, often criticized by those who follow wrestling, were able to convince TNA to run the groupís first house show in their hometown.
Bell time for this non-televised event is 8:00 p.m. at the Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth, just off M-14 at Beck Road. Tickets start at $10 and are still available through Ticketmaster, at the box office or by calling (734) 453-6400.
