HOF night in Canada?TSN yet to commit on WWE ceremony
Canada may have to wait a bit longer to see its home-grown ring legend inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
TSN, who carries WWE's Monday Night Raw program, has not committed, as of Tuesday afternoon, as to whether or not they will offer coverage of the induction ceremony on the popular sports channel.
"We have yet to confirm the program in our broadcast schedule," said TSN Communications Officer Matthew Garrow in a statement to SLAM! Wrestling.
The response from TSN comes on the heels of an announcement by the USA Network that they would broadcast the HOF induction on April 1 from Chicago.
Should neither TSN, nor The Score, who broadcasts WWE Smackdown!, not carry the ceremony, Canadian mat fans would likely have to wait until a DVD release to see Calgary's Bret Hart be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Since resurrecting the Hall of Fame for WrestleMania XX weekend, WWE has released footage from the ceremony in both it's own DVD (2004) and as a bonus on the WrestleMania XXI compilation (2005).
Last year's ceremony, which saw Hulk Hogan, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and others inducted into the Hall, was broadcast on SpikeTV, which was avaiable on several cable systems across Canada.
Along with Hart, Eddie Guerrero and "Mean" Gene Okerlund have been announced as part of the Class of 2006. Okerlund's inclusion in the new induction list was announced Monday on Raw.
Stay tuned to SLAM! Wrestling for more on this developing story.
