Raw: Edge fails in rematch
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

The Royal Rumble is over, so we're officially on the road to Wrestlemania 22. The long, strange trip makes its first stop in Orlando, Florida.

Edge kicks off the show right in our face, as he vows to take back his world title tonight. Edge says since he lost, he won't be remembered.

After the intro, Vince struts to the ring. The chairman of board gloats over how he got Shawn Michaels eliminated from the Rumble. HBK has heard enough, and confronts Vince in the ring. Shawn figures he has three options, deck Vince and get fired; flat out quit and have Vince sue him, or turn into the old HBK. Instead, HBK tries to appeal to the business side of Vince, and challenges him to a match. Vince says there no chance in hell, but he will allow HBK to commit career suicide. Vince tries to goad Michaels into hitting him, and HBK doesn't bite. But, Shane McMahon sneaks in from behind, and lays HBK out with a chair shot to the back.

During the break, Shane tells Todd Grisham that this is about respect. Bret Hart learned it; Stone Cold learned it; and now HBK will learn it. Then the McMahon boys head off to the hotel party.

Match # 1 RVD vs. Snitsky

RVD comes out to another HUGE pop. (Boy did the crowd go nuts for him at the Rumble or what?) RVD starts off with a series of kicks, but Snitsky slows him down with a clothesline. RVD elbows his way out of a bear hug, but then runs into a scoop slam. It's about eight minutes into the match, and the crowd starts the "booooring" chant, only against Snitsky. RVD hits a step-over spinning heel kick, and follows up with Rolling Thunder. Van Dam ducks a big boot, and nails a spinning back kick. RVD finishes Snitsky off with the 5-Star Frog Splash, and covers for the pin.

Winner via pinfall: RVD

Back in the locker room, Shelton Benjamin is getting a tongue-lashing from his mama. She is quite disappointed that he lost to HBK, and then lost the Rumble. Mama wants a shoulder rub, but Shelton has already left. She still gets one, though, from Goldust. Mama freaks out, as she almost gets a tongue-lashing from the golden one.

Triple H is pretty upset that he lost the Rumble. He tells Maria that he beat 28 other guys, and doesn't buy that Rey Mysterio beat him. Trips tells her that it had to be a higher power other than Eddie that helped Rey, so tonight Chavo better pray. HHH is going to take out his frustration on him.

Match #2 Triple H vs. Chavo Guerrero

Hunter beats on Chavo to start the match, but Chavo fights back. He hits a flying forearm, and then elbows HHH off the apron. Chavo hits the Three Amigos, but is cut off as he goes for a frog splash. Chavo fights off Trips, and attempts the frog splash. HHH rolls away, and nails Chavo with the Pedigree.

Winner via pinfall: Triple H

Carlito and Chris Masters are getting ready for their match. Carlito complains about getting attacked by Shaq O'Neal at a recent Miami Heat game. Masters is ignoring him, and Carlito wants to know if it's because of "accidently" eliminating him from the Rumble. Carlito wants to know if they are cool. Masters smacks him, and says, "No, we're cool."

Match #3 Big Show and Kane vs. Carlito and Chris Masters World Tag Team Championship match

It's about time these guys defended the belts. Kane goes after Masters on the outside, and Show tosses Carlito from the ring. Carlito is brought back in by his hair, and is power slammed. Carlito ducks a clothesline from Kane, and distracts the ref. Masters pulls Kane from the ring, and slams him into the steps. Masters tags in, and focuses on Kane's shoulder. He locks in the Masterlock, but Big Show helps Kane to break free. Show gets the hot tag, but tumbles from the ring, as Carlito pulls down the top rope. Masters sidesteps Kane as he comes off the top rope. He applies the Masterlock, again, but releases as Show hits the ring. A big boot from Kane lays out Masters, and the champs finish him off with a double choke slam. Show covers for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Big Show and Kane

Todd Grisham wants to know why Mickie is throwing a celebration for Trish. Mickie says Trish confirmed her love by making the three count last night. Okaaaaaay ...

Match #4 Shelton Benjamin w/ Mama vs. Goldust

Mama is so upset by Goldust that she comes to the ring in a wheelchair, and a oxygen mask. Goldust hits the shattered dreams on Benji, and then rolls out of the ring to torment Mama. Benji hits him with a boot, and then the T-Bone driver. Shelton covers for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Shelton Benjamin

After the match, Shelton helps his Mama to the ladies room. Benji spots Ric Flair, and tells the Nature Boy that he has his confidence back. Shelton says he's coming for the Intercontinental Title. Ric tells him that messing with the Nature Boy is a bad thing. He tells Shelton that a mama's boy will never beat the Nature Boy.

Mickie James has the ring set up to celebrate Trish. Trish comes out, and wants to set the record straight. Ashley interrupts and tells off Mickie. Mickie cries, and then attacks Ashley. Trish separates the two, and this storyline just won't die.

Match #5 John Cena vs. Edge WWE Championship Match

I'll just cut to the end here. Edge blocks an F-U attempt, pushing Cena into the ref. With the ref down, Edge nails Cena with a low blow, and then spears him. Edge can't get a count, so he gets up. Cena sets up Edge for another F-U, as Lita hits the ring with the belt. Lita accidentally clocks her man with the belt, which the ref sees. Cena is disqualified, and Edge picks up the win, but not the title.

Winner via DQ : Edge
