Will it be Rey's Day ... or will Triple H rule?
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun

Once a year, WWE gets ready to Rumble. And, as always, the question is: Who will be the last man standing?

With some competitors yet to be named, the main event of tonight's Royal Rumble will feature Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, Big Show, Kane, Chris Masters, Carlito, Shelton Benjamin, Chavo Guerrero, Trevor Murdoch, Viscera, and Jonathan Coachman from RAW; and Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, Booker T, Matt Hardy, Bobby Lashley, Orlando Jordan, Animal, Johnny Nitro, Joey Mercury, Simon Dean, Sylvan Grenier, Super Crazy and Psicosis from Smackdown! The winner will get a title shot at Wrestlemania.

It's easy to trim the list down -- many of these guys don't have a prayer. It's not so easy to figure out the winner.

Cynics would suggest that Triple H will use his stroke to manoeuvre his way into a title shot. But I'm thinking he doesn't win -- and still gets a title shot. If that's the case, there's a good chance a Smackdown! competitor wins -- maybe Mysterio. Orton is another possibility from the Smackdown! side ... or maybe they'll give Benoit another shot.

I can't see anyone other than Triple H -- unless they make the Wrestlemania main event a three-way tilt -- winning from the RAW side.

As for the undercard, Edge will defend his title against John Cena; Kurt Angle will face Mark Henry; The Boogeyman will worm it up with JBL; Mickie James will face Ashley (with Trish Stratus as the guest ref); and Kid Kash will defend his title in a cruiserweight invitational.

  • Niagara Falls' Ronnie Arniell (Shawn Spears) has signed a WWE deal.

  • Enough, Shaneigus! This year's Royal Rumble promos pale in comparison to last year's.

  • I'm on the "Love Him" side of The Boogeyman. For those who don't know, The Boogeyman is Marty Wright, the Tough Enough competitor who was disqualified for lying about his age, saying he was 10 years younger than he was.

  • Say what you want about Kurt Angle, but he's a great champion. Same with Edge.

  • Bobby Roode vs. Sinn will headline UWA X-Posure Feb. 4 at the Legion Royale, 231 Malloney Blvd. in Gatineau. Other scheduled matches include: Aftershock vs. Bolen and Dave Titan; Castor McFear and The Hollywood Hunks vs. Zack Storm, Showtime Shaun McMillan and Chris Cage; She Nay Nay vs. Cherry Bomb; Virus vs. Inferno; Ryan Rush vs. Colin Oliver Carnage III; Jason Cage vs. The Hickster Tim Jim Bob.

  • CPW International will hold its next event at the St-Jean-Bosco school in Hull (71 St-Jean-Bosco St.) on Feb. 4. The main event is Wild Dangerous Dan vs. "The Legend" Guy Sauriol. Other matches: MVP vs. a challenger; Misty Haven vs. Shantelle Taylor; Super Style Maxime Boyer vs. The Prophet; and Player Uno vs. Velvet Jones. Thunder, Tray Hugh Mongus, The Prince of Persia Rahim Ali and Viking will also appear.
