Impact: Another brawl to end the show
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

"Wow" was a word used to describe this past Sunday's Bound For Glory pay-per-view. In short, TNA delivered an action-packed show. Now it's time for the promotion to deliver its weekly Impact fix, an understandable step down from the heights of the PPV.

The show started with a recap of Bound For Glory, one of the better Wrestling PPVs in the past year.

Match One - "The Monster" Abyss w/ Father James Mitchell vs Lance Hoyt
They are two big men who have a strong following with TNA, and make for a good combination to kick off the in-ring action. Back and forth action, Mitchell tossed a chair to Abyss, but that allowed Hoyt to kick it in "The Monster's" face. Mitchell tried to get involved again, which led to The Black Hole Slam and a win for Abyss. Post match, Abyss and Mitchell brought out the signature thumbtacks, only for the lights to go out and Sabu to appear with a towel wrapped around his arm. Abyss and Mitchell bailed as Sabu revealed that the towel was covering barbed wire wrapped around his arm.
Winner Via Pinfall - "The Monster" Abyss

We then shot over to Mike Tenay and Don West who made the announcement that on this Thursday night (November 3), TNA will be hosting a two-hour special on Spike TV, starting at 9:00 EST. They apologized for the equipment malfunction during the Ultimate X match at Bound For Glory, and informed fans that there will be an Ultimate X rematch during the special. This will be a big night for TNA, the ball is in their court.

"The Living Legend" Larry Zybysko came out, as did "The King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett, to pump up the special a little bit, announcing that Jarrett would be challenging "The Man Beast" Rhino for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Jarrett promised that he would be taking home gold.

Match Two - "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels vs Jerelle Clark
Fast-paced X match here, Daniels took a good amount of punishment in this one, allowing Clark to shine. With the momentum going his way, Clark attempted the springboard moonsault, but to no avail. Upon getting to his feet, Clark fell victim to The Angel Wings.
Winner Via Pinfall - "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels

Backstage, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas stood by with Raven. Cassidy Riley came in and began complaining about the treatment of Raven, telling Raven that "She got into his head." Raven took a shot at Riley, laying him out before walking off. (Is this the plan for Jackie Gayda, whom TNA signed to a contract awhile back?)

Match Three - Alex Shelly and Roderick Strong vs "The Original Playa From The Himalayas" Sonjay Dutt and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
"The Canadian Destroyer" Petey Williams and Coach Scott D'Amore joined Tenay and West for commentary on this one. All four men got involved in a back and forth battle before we were sent to a commercial break. Shelly and Strong used some double team tactics to keep take Dutt off his game. Dutt was able to overcome the odds, hit a huricanrana on Shelly and make the hot tag to Styles, while Shelly tagged in Strong. Shelly and Dutt fought to floor as Strong left himself wide open for The Styles Clash.
Winners Via Pinfall - "The Original Playa From The Himalayas" Sonjay Dutt and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles

In Zybysko's office, 3 Live Kru was shown talking to Zybysko. BG James led the troops in demanding a match that would end their feud with Team Canada. Kip James came in and said that they would be getting their match, and that he would be the guest referee. Everyone liked the idea except Konnan, who got into a verbal altercation with Kip that required them to be separated.

Match Four - America's Most Wanted ("Wildcat" Chris Harris and "The Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm w/ Gail Kim vs 3 Live Kru (BG James and Ron "The Truth" Killings) w/ Konnan
Prior to the match, Konnan and BG James did their usual mic work. Killings came out of the blocks with fists of fury. Kim tried getting involved on several occasions, Konnan chased her away. Coach Scott D'Amore came down and tried to use the hockey stick while the referee was distracted, but Kip James came down and took the stick, throwing it to BG. The ref told BG to put down the stick, but Harris stole it from his hands and allowed Storm to hit the superkick on BG for the three count. Post match, Konnan and Kip argued.
Winners Via Pinfall - America's Most Wanted

In the parking lot, Team 3D was shown arriving. Team 3D headed towards the ring after the commercial break and went right to work, talking about how they were back and that they were going after the people who went after them. Team 3D did ask the crowd to applaud for their favorite tag team, America's Most Wanted. They announced that at Genesis, they would be teaming with "The Man Beast" Rhino, to take on America's Most Wanted and "The King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett. They went on to say that on the Impact special this Thursday, they were going after Team Canada. This prompted the Canadians to come out, do a little trash talking, and start the traditional and always predictable brawl. With 3-D's flying all over, 3 Live Kru, America's Most Wanted, Jarrett and Rhino all joined the mix as Impact bid us farewell.

Why? Why must a huge brawl end Impacts and PPVs on a regular basis? Can something different happen? This is a plague in TNA -- predictability. While their shows have become better and better, they still have these little road blocks that they need to knock down if they want to continue on the path to success.

MATCHES SCHEDULED TO GENESIS:

  • No DQ match - Abyss vs Sabu
  • Team Canada vs 3 Live Kru
  • Rhino and Team 3D vs Jeff Jarrett and America's Most Wanted
