Hitman headlines NYC collectibles event
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

Last year's Ringside Fest in Times Square featured the Ultimate Warrior and Sting as its main guests. This year, Bret "The Hitman" Hart makes his return to New York City for the event.

The brainchild of Jon Hall and Ringside Collectibles, Ringside Fest claims to be the ultimate wrestling figure collector's convention.

This year, the event is on November 5th, at Caroline's Comedy Club, located between 49th and 50th Street in Times Square. Besides the Hitman, WWE stars Kurt Angle, Carlito Caribbean Cool and Jerry "The King" Lawler will be in attendance. With an overwhelming response thus far, Hall and Ringside Collectibles plan to raise the bar a little higher and kick things up an extra gear.

Bringing Bret Hart to New York City was a huge undertaking, but Hall feels it was well worth it. "Bret Hart has an incredible connection with the New York City fans, and I am glad that we can give those fans the opportunity to meet Bret," Hall told SLAM! Wrestling. "Bret has not made an appearance in New York City in over eight years; this will be his first and he will be doing a Q & A Session."

As for the other names on the marquee, Hall had no problem defending his selections. "Kurt Angle is one of the top WWE stars today, and possible the greatest technical wrestler ever next to Bret Hart. We thought the Bret Hart fans would appreciate the chance to meet Bret and Kurt at the same venue. Carlito is one of the top WWE Raw stars and is the top selling figure of the year. Jerry 'The King' Lawler will be on hand to celebrate the release of his Classic Superstars Series 8 figure. He will also be doing a Q & A Session."

Unlike many other conventions, Ringside Fest caters to the wrestling figure collector. But where exactly did the idea for this come from? "Ringside Collectibles is the number one on-line retailer of Jakks WWE figures. We are based in New York, so it only made sense that we put on an event that is catered to our wrestling collector audience. We went out last year and signed two of the biggest names in the history of wrestling, The Ultimate Warrior and Sting. That event created an incredible demand for another event."

Being that the show is themed more for a wrestling figure collector, fans who attend are given the opportunity to purchase a Limited Edition figure, exclusive to Ringside Fest. This year's exclusive figure will be former WWF champion Yokozuna. "Yokozuna is one of the most popular Jakks WWE Classic Superstars figures of all time. The exclusive figure includes a removable robe and a Japanese flag accessory. The figure is a limited edition of 1,800 and has exclusive red and white color tights. Salt not included!" Hall joked.

Jakks WWE Creative team will also be on hand during the question and answer session with Jerry "The King" Lawler, to hear from the fans on what they are interested in.

With four big names, two top notch Q & A sessions and one exclusive figure, Ringside Fest 2005 has all the makings of being a blockbuster event. "Visit www.ringsidefest.com and read the testimonials from fans who attended the show last year," Hall bragged. "Last year was a smashing success, and I have no doubt that Bret Hart and Kurt Angle will make Ringside Fest 2005 even better!"
