Wrestlemania 22 sells out
By JASON CLEVETT - SLAM! Wrestling

Regardless of how popular WWE events are, one word that immediately sends fans into frenzy is Wrestlemania. Fans from around the world jammed Ticketmaster this morning to sell out the 22nd edition of the event on Sunday, April 2nd 2006.

WWE released a number of tickets in a presale Friday morning, which were quickly snapped up, and tickets released to the general public were sold out in less than two minutes according to a WWE press release.

The sell out continues a trend as Wrestlemania 20 in New York City and Wrestlemania 21 in Los Angeles sold out in under two minutes as well. More than 15,000 people from 16 countries and 41 states will be attending WrestleMania 22 at Rosemont's Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

This will be the third Wrestlemania event to be held in the Windy City. A portion of Wrestlemania 2, with Andre The Giant winning a battle royal featuring football players was held at the Rosemont, while Wrestlemania 13 saw The Undertaker win the WWF title from Sycho Sid, and the classic submission match between Bret “Hitman” Hart and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

Jason Clevett is from Calgary, Alberta. For the first time since 2002 he will not be attending Wrestlemania, but knows what a great time people in Chicago will be having.
