Batista and Eddie Guerrero, opponents at No Mercy,
partners on SmackDown? That's right, the duo who will be competing for the World
Heavyweight Championship at No Mercy, will be teaming up this week to meet MNM
in the main event. What gives? We'll find out as SmackDown! comes to us from
Lubbock, TX.
Match One - Booker T w/ Sharmell vs
Christain
Solid back and forth match, Christain deserves a bigger
spot, he is the cult favorite that WWE will not push. These two men went back
and forth, exchanging chops and mat wrestling a bit. Booker T was able to
connect with the Book End, but could only get a two count out of it. Christain's
attempt at an Unprettier was foiled, as he was went into the turnbuckles,
Sharmell grabbed his foot, allowing Booker to roll him up for the three
count.
Winner Via Pinfall - Booker T
Backstage, Eddie Guerrero is with Theodore Long and
"Network Executive" Palmer Canon, Guerrero talked about how he was fine earlier,
but developed a cramp. Guerrero promised that he would not disappoint the fans.
He later threw up as Long and Canon listened on.
Jillian Hall came out next to introduce John "Bradshaw"
Layfield. Layfield came out on a horse and did his usual spiel about how great
he is and how great New York City is. While JBL is a great heel, he needs to
have something else that he can talk about.
Heidenreich and Animal were shown making their way to the
ring for...
Match Two - WWE Tag Team Championship
- Legion of Doom (Heidenreich and Animal) (C) vs Jared Steele and
Anthony Culletti
WWE needs tag teams! Why is it that every week the tag
titles are being defended in Squash matches or against the same team. Please
bring up the tag team division!
Winners via pinfall and STILL WWE Tag Team
Champions - Legion of Doom (Heidenreich and Animal)
Backstage, Sylvain Greiner is getting a massage. He
berates Christy Hemme, calling her "fake", while also trash-talking
Stacy Keibler, saying that she has been "shopping at the Salvation Army."
Hardcore Holly walked in and said that Greiner was wearing all black, but he
still needed a black eye. Wait a minute...Hardcore Holly is on TV?
Match Three - Sylvain Greiner vs Hardcore
Holly
Now whose idea was it was it to split up La Resistance
and give them all the same gimmick as singles wrestlers? Rob Conway = "Just Look
at Me", Rene Dupree = "The French Phenom", Slyvain Greiner = "Too good looking".
Honestly, it's pretty lame. Holly beat up Greiner, going to work on his
promises, sending Greiner scurrying.
Winner via countout - Hardcore Holly
Backstage, Theodore Long told Batista that Eddie Guerrero
was sick, Batista then told Teddy that he had the best doctor in town coming to
see him.
A clip of The Undertaker looking at the casket from last week is shown.
In the ring, "Cowboy" Bob Orton introduced his son Randy. The younger Orton made his way to the ring and talked
about how he beat The Undertaker mentally. They had the casket at ringside and
when Randy went to check on his mannequin Undertaker, he was shocked to realize
that it was the real Undertaker. Orton was choked, before getting saved by his
father. The Ortons bailed as The Undertaker stood and stared them down from the
ring.
Match Four - "Mr. Kennedy" Ken Kennedy vs Rey Mysterio
Kennedy hit the Low Blow on Chimel, a microphone then
descended from the ceiling so that he could announce himself. Mysterio came out
and was his usual self, taking the fast paced offense to Kennedy. However, JBL
came out to provide the distraction that Kennedy needed, allowing him to catch
Mysterio in the flipping Samoan Drop off the ropes.
Winner Via pinfall - "Mr. Kennedy" Ken Kennedy
The Raw Rewind plays. John Cena vs Eric Bischoff, not the
best, nor the most original idea.
Theodore Long was shown telling "Network Executive"
Palmer Canon, that he should not worry about what Raw has in store for its
Homecoming.
Sharmell and Booker were shown backstage, Sharmell told
Booker that they should celebrate and that Booker should be wearing gold, all
the while not mentioning that Kennedy said that Booker should get a U.S. Title
shot.
Eddie Guerrero popped up next backstage, as he was shown
getting attention by a physician. A nurse walked in and asked Guerrero if he
needed any physical attention, with Guerrero taking her up on the offer, asking
her to rub him lower.
Match Five - Simon Dean vs Bobby Lashley
Dean cut a promo about the Simon Systems prior to the
match. Lashley made an impressive debut, going toe to toe with Dean in a back
and forth contest. Lashley was able to finish off Dean with a Gut Wrench
Slam.
Winner via pinfall - Bobby Lashley
Match Six - WWE United States Championship - "The
Rabid Wolverine" Chris Benoit (C) vs Orlando Jordan
Give me a break, Benoit taps Jordan out in 49.8 seconds.
Jordan has lost all crediblity. Nice going.
Winner via submission and STILL WWE United States
Champion - "The Rabid Wolverine" Chris Benoit
Backstage, Batista ran into Guerrero who says he is
feeling much better thanks to the nurse. Batista then told Guerrero that he had
a doctor available to take care of the cramps. Dr. Barnett was introduced and
proceeded to do some things that, as Guerrero's face showed, he didn't
like.
Match Seven - MNM w/ Melina vs "The Animal" Batista and Eddie Guerrero
MNM is a great tag team, and if WWE can just expand that
division, they would be better off. Good match up here, Batista and Guerrero
worked as a unit, despite Guerrero appearing to be in pain. In the end, Batista
hit the Batista Bomb on Mercury, before he could go for the pin, Guerrero tagged
in and hit the Frog Splash on Mercury for the pinfall. The two celebrated after
the match, as Batista looked on angrily at Guerrero.
Winners Via Pinfall - "The Animal" Batista and Eddie Guerrero
WWE is smart for bringing in the new talent, but I cannot
emphasize enough, the importance of bringing in some tag teams. Tag team title
matches are just as important as other title matches, they must be treated that
way. SmackDown! has a ton of room to grow, they have plenty of promising stars,
some more fine tuning needs to be done though.
