Initial Impact starting to take shape
While the tapings go down Tuesday night in Orlando, the first airing of Impact on Spike TV this Saturday has already taken shape.
TNA has been strategically releasing information on the show over the past week to start to get a buzz about its debut on the network at 11 pm ET this Saturday, October 1.
The first match on the new show will feature "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles against the recently-signed Roderick Strong. Petey Williams, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley face-off in an X Division showdown.
The main event will be "The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy against "The Man Beast" Rhino.
The tag team formerly known as the Dudleys are also expected to be in action.
Today, TNA announced that it will show footage of Jeff Jarrett winning the NWA World title at the Border City Wrestling show last week from Raven, thanks to the help of America's Most Wanted.
For purists who had hoped that TNA's upgrade to a cable TV outlet with better clearance was going to bring back the prestige of the NWA World title, a paragraph in today's press release has to be ominous, recalling Jim Crockett Promotions' disrespectful treatment of the prestigious title, keeping it in-house and later morphed into the WCW World international title:
"TNAwrestling.com has also learned that NWA officials are still looking into the specifics of the bout and how Jarrett managed to secure a World Title match outside of the jurisdiction of TNA."
The promotion is building towards its Bound For Glory pay-per-view on Sunday, October 23rd, which is expected to be headlined by Jeff Jarrett defending his title against Kevin Nash.
