Guest list grows for Long Island reunion
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
Ken Pulvidente and Steve Maraguilo, collectively known as K and S Productions, began promoting their "Wrestlefest 2005" a few months back, and their lives have not been the same since.
"I am worn out," Pulvidente told SLAM! Wrestling. "I am very tired, but very enthused. It's been hard work, making sure all the talent is set with everything. It's very involving, yet very fun."
Running a convention on Long Island has always been a goal of theirs. When they set out to attain this goal, they agreed that nothing would stop them from delivering the best convention Long Island has ever hosted and with the recently-announced addition of guests, they may be doing just that.
Back in June 2005, both men began promoting a convention set for September 24, 2005 at the Hilton Hotel in Melville, NY. Their announced line-up consisted of Jerry "The King" Lawler, "The Living Legend" Larry Zybysko, Dustin "Goldust" Rhodes, The Original Midnight Express, Magnum TA, Terry Funk, "The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff, "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas and Missy Hyatt.
Sounds like enough to entice the wrestling community right? While it should be, it was not enough for K and S as they soon announced The Dudley Boyz would be making an appearence at the show.
The Dudley Boyz, who were recently released from their WWE contracts and renamed Team 3D, have been strangers to the Independent scene since siging with WWE back in 1999. The addition created immediate stir which has Pulvidente estatic. "Team 3D are what's gonna cross over to the casual, younger fans. They will appeal to a younger range of fans."
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan will also be making an appearance to sign autographs and take pictures. He will not be participating in the Super Ticket, but will be a part of the Q & A Session, something he is well known for on the convention scene. "Getting Heenan is great, he is a very recognizable figure in the wrestling industry. He is a tremendous person and someone that the fans want to be around."
K and S did not stop there; they began adding extra bonuses for the fans, including chances to eat with the stars. While you can purchase tickets to eat a lunch with all the legends, one lucky winner of a raffle will be able to have a one-on-one dinner that night with "The First Lady of Wrestling" Missy Hyatt.
K and S are proud of their guest list and the hard work they put into making this event possible, "I think the convention is on par to other conventions," said Pulvidente. "We have big name talent, some who are active, while others are big stars from the past. We have guys from the old WWF and also some people who haven't been in the area since the days of the NWA. I think it's a great mix."
