Impact: Roode-ly interrupted by Rhino
By CHRIS SOKOL -- SLAM! Wrestling

The Chris Candido Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament is in full swing. While last week's matches were odd, maybe this week can produce us some more suitable tag teams. Team Canada's "muscle" Bobby Roode will also be in action as he gets a shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Raven in a Non-Title match. Now onto Impact!

Match One - First Round Match in the Chris Candido Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament - "Syxx-Pac" Sean Waltman and Alex Shelly vs Shark Boy and "The Monster" Abyss with Father James Mitchell

Shark Boy and Alex Shelly started out with a beautiful exchange, before Shelly was bitten and sent scurrying. Waltman came in and that's when things went south for the masked duo. Abyss came in and cleaned house, including a Black Hole Slam on his partner Shark Boy, much to the delight of Father James Mitchell. Shelly then hit the ring and hit Shark Boy with The Shell Shock and pinned him.

Winners Via Pinfall - "Syxx-Pac" Sean Waltman and Alex Shelly

Match Two - Simon Diamond and David Young vs Mikey Batts and Jerelle Clarke

Diamond and Young dominate a good portion of this match. Diamond slapped Young during the match which fired him up, leading to Young hitting Clarke with a Spinebuster for the three count.

Winners Via Pinfall - Simon Diamond and David Young

Backstage, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas stood by with "The Living Legend" Larry Zybysko who announced that at Unbreakable, the NWA Tag Team Championships would be on the line when The Naturals defended against America's Most Wanted, Team Canada and the winners of the Chris Candido Memorial Tag Team Tournament. "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels then walked in and demanded that "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles be suspended. Zybysko said that with Spike TV coming, he had a philosophy, and that at Unbreakable Daniels would defend the X Division belt against "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles.

Match Three - "Primetime" Elix Skipper w/ Simon Diamond vs Apolo w/ Sonny Siaki

Skipper is now a part of The Diamonds in the Rough, should be interesting to see where this newfound change will take him as it pertains to his status in the company. Skipper hasn't been in the mainstream since his feud with Christopher Daniels ended. He is a talented athlete and certainly someone TNA should utilize more often. Unfortunately for him, he was mauled by another star who has been buried amongst the massive TNA Roster. Skipper was finished off with Apolo's version of the TKO.

Winner Via Pinfall - Apolo

Backstage, Shane Douglas caught up with Kip James and Petey Williams. James talked about how being a veteran to him means that he is just that good. "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown walked in and told James that he should go out and do his thing, but once he was done, he needed to speak with "The Alpha Male", because he had some big plans and that they would go hunting together. Next, "The King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett walked in and told the three men that they were the ones being hunted by TNA Management. Williams said that he spoke with Coach Scott D'Amore and all of Team Canada was behind Jarrett. Kip James followed up that he was behind Jarrett, while Brown said that Jarrett broke his agreement and that he would serve notice to anyone that got in his way. He finished by saying how he is going to take what is rightfully his, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

Match Four - First Round of the Chris Candido Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament - Kip James and "The Canadian Destroyer" Petey Williams vs Konnan and Lance Hoyt

Another hot tag match that saw a lot of double teaming from both teams. Williams went for The Canadian Destroyer on Lance Hoyt, but instead was grabbed around the throat and slammed for his troubles. Kip James came in to hit The Fameasser, but Konnan held his leg, allowing Lance Hoyt to catch James with a boot to the face for the victory.

Winners Via Pinfall - Konnan and Lance Hoyt

Backstage, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas spoke with America's Most Wanted who said that they couldn't wait for Unbreakable and told the other teams in the match, "Sorry about your damn luck."

After a quick commercial break, we found "The Franchise" Shane Douglas and "The Living Legend" Larry Zybysko walking around the "Bad Section" of the arena. Neither man wanted to be there, but Zybysko was in search of Jeff Hardy, who came down like Spiderman and said that TNA wanted him back and so he is, before curling up again. Zybysko yelled at Hardy to get down, because he needed professionals to be around when they go to Spike TV.

Match Five - Bobby Roode w/ "The Canadian Destroyer" Petey Williams vs Raven

Great match here. Roode deserves the main event spot and he proved exactly why right here. Early on, Roode charged at Raven in the turnbuckles, missed and caught his shoulder on the post. The match continued on, the ref was taken out by a clothesline from Roode, Williams got involved, but was disposed of by Cassidy Riley. Raven finished off Roode with The Evenflow DDT. After the match, Rhino hit the ring and brawled with Raven, followed by Abyss with Father James Mitchell. The lights went out and when they came back on, Sabu was in the ring. He threw his steel chair at Abyss and Rhino, clearing ring. Rhino stayed away while Father James Mitchell held Abyss back as IMpact came to an end.

Winner Via Pinfall - Raven

More solid matches on Impact. Now that we have established that TNA has a huge Tag Team division, a huge X Division and a solid Heavyweight Title division, how about TNA works on building up a Women's division? TNA has been smart to hire women who could actually look good and wrestle, maybe a division and title would add a little more to the company, as very few companies seem to have a solid women's division.
