'Mania best of latest PPV DVDs
By JON WALDMAN -- SLAM! Wrestling
WWE has released three more pay-per-view DVDs, and it should be little surprise as to which of the latest batch is getting the biggest thumbs up from yours truly. The effort on WrestleMania XXI was spectacular, and should be a guide for every other PPV DVD the Fed releases. I'm not saying that each PPV should be a three-disc set, but having extras like dark matches and superstar highlight videos put this one head and shoulders above any other PPV DVD that has come out ... well ... since WrestleMania XX. Let's take a look at the extras WWE put in to the last few DVDs.
Extras DVD Exclusives JBL in the trainer's room, Enemy music video, making of Enemy video. Rating: 1.5 out of 5 - The Fozzy stuff here was natural, and the presser is a nice touch. The promo, however, is useless, and Heat footage is really unnecessary. Extras Match promos, all nine parodies plus blooper reel, highlight videos of Shawn Michaels, Angle and The Undertaker, Highlights from WrestleMania Week activities, WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Battle Royal Rating: 4.5 out of 5 - There's a lot to like here. The parodies are among the funniest spots WWE has ever done, and the battle royal (during which Booker T breaks the Master Lock) is really strong. Of course, the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is the top reason to grab this, highlighted by some great retrospective videos and a spectacularly funny speech by the Iron Sheik.
Extras
DVD Exclusives
Rating: 2 out of 5 - You have to give WWE marks for going a little beyond the regular format, giving us the Trish/Viscera date and the Pedigree video. The two exclusives were good for the time, since they foreshadowed what would happen later in WWE storylines.
