Impact: Last matches set for Sacrifice
By CHRIS SOKOL -- SLAM! Wrestling
We are just a few days shy of TNA Sacrifice, a PPV that is already lined top to bottom with potenially great matches. However, this week on Impact, one more match needs to be set in stone, as AJ Styles and Petey Williams clash in the second Semi-Final Match of the Super X Cup Tournament!
Match One - Matt Bentley w/Traci Brooks vs Shark Boy
Bentley jump-started the match, attacking Shark Boy as he was playing to the fans. Shark Boy immediately fired back, sending the cocky Bently to the corner for his signature Ten Count Punch. It was then that Traci got on the ring apron to distract the referee, but was on the reciving end of a Shark Bite. Shark Boy then turned around into a Superkick that put him away for the three.
>b?Winner Via Pinfall - Matt Bentley
Backstage, Shane Douglas interviewed Shocker who said that he did underestimate Alex Shelley, and said that in Mexico they do things two out of three falls, and that they were tied at one. So at TNA Sacrifice, it will be Alex Shelley vs Shocker! This match will be one of the highlights, guaranteed.
Match Two - Semi-Final Match For The Super X Cup Tournament - Petey Williams w/A-1 vs "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
Back and forth match that saw A-1 get involved, knocking out "The Phenomenal One" with a hard clothesline. "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels provided commentary like usual, putting over how great the X Division is...and it certainly is. The Canadian Destroyer as well as The Styles Clash were both blocked, leading to Styles ending the match via the Small Package.
Winner Via Pinfall - "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
Shane Douglas got a chance to talk to Lance Hoyt who talked about opportunity coming to him. He was soon attacked by "The Monster" Abyss with a steel chair, followed by Father James Mitchell who stated that Abyss was going to crush him at Sacrafice.
After a quick Jeff Hardy DVD Shill, we headed back to Douglas who was standing by with "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown and Kip James. Kip told Monty that BG was his brother. Monty said how he hoped so, but continued on by saying that if BG had to call somebody, he should call the hospital and talk to Elix Skipper because he would know what it felt like to feel the POOOOOOUNNCEEE!
Match Three - "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown w/Kip James vs "Primetime" Elix Skipper
While Skipper was asking the crowd for a reaction, he was attacked from behind by Brown who proceeded to wear him down early on. Skipper fought back using his great agility, however a double springboard moonsault landed him in the middle of the ring, on his feet and Pounced.
Winner Via Pinfall - "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown
Match Four - Simon Diamond and David Young vs America's Most Wanted
Diamond and Young got whacked all around by the former tag champs before Team Canada get involved allowing Young to pull off a Spinebuster and get the pinfall. As Diamond and Young celebrated, Team Canada destroyed AMW, until The Naturals and Jimmy Hart came down and chased them away.
Winners Via Pinfall - Simon Diamond and David Young
Match Five - Konnan and Ron "The Truth" Killings vs Jerelle Clarke and Mikey Batts
3 Live Kru destroy Clarke and Batts in squash match fashion. BG James comes out to watch and flashes the 3LK sign. Konnan grabs the mic and tells him that he was glad BG could join then, but he was, "a day late and a dollar short."
Killings took the mic and told him not to be a hot head. Konnan walked off as Killings talked to BG.
Winners Via Pinfall - Konnan and Ron "The Truth" Killings
Backstage, Douglas stood in between AMW, Jimmy Hart and The Naturals, claiming he never thought he'd see them standing side by side without fists drawn. AMW and The Naturals said that they need to eliminate Team Canada and that for the first time they'd be teaming together at Sacrifice.
Match Six - Rhino vs Chris Sabin
Competitive back and forth match between the two. Rhino sent Sabin to the floor and threw a table in the ring. Sabin tried to use his quickness to his advantage, but was denied and Gored for the one-two-three.
Winner Via Pinfall - Rhino
After the match, Raven came down, followed, by Jarrett and when the lights went out and came back on, Sabu was in the ring. Raven was placed on the table and Sabu was powerbombed from the top rope by Rhino onto Raven, not breaking the table. Jarrett set the table back up and Rhino powerbombed Sabu through it. Jarrett then celebrated and locked the Figure Four Leg Lock on Raven as TNA Impact came to an end.
Six matches sets the record for most matches on an episode of Impact. Yet again, a pretty good Impact, making TNA's run on the Internet pretty solid. In two months, they will be on television again on a cable network which can only mean bigger and better things. Right now though, TNA needs to focus on Sacrifice, in an attempt to make their PPV offerings a little better.
