WWE: Brock says no to contract
By JON WALDMAN -- SLAM! Wrestling

The road that looked to lead to Brock Lesnar's return to World Wrestling Entertainment appears to have hit a dead end.

The Fed announced today on wwe.com that Lesnar, a fomer multi-time Heavyweight Champion, has ceased negotiations with WWE.

In an article posted on the company's website today, WWE stated that, "After verbally agreeing to terms with WWE, Brock Lesnar has decided to withdraw from any involvement with the company."

The news comes after weeks of articles on wwe.com covering negotiations between Lesnar's party and WWE. The articles, which included interviews with Lesnar, seemed to indicate that "The Next Big Thing" would be coming back to the Stamford, CT.-based company after walking out on the company more than a year ago.

As reported by SLAM! on July 6, Lesnar was quoted in a wwe.com article, saying that, "I'm excited about getting my working boots on and getting back to business,"

Lesnar left WWE following WrestleMania XX to pursue a football career with the Minnesota Vikings. He was unable to make the practice squad, and has been unable to participate in wrestling events due to a no-compete clause in his WWE contract.
