Impact: Hot show proves there's No Surrender in TNA
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
TNA is on fire! Two straight weeks and two great Impacts. I guess with Dusty
Rhodes out, TNA is going to flourish. This week, Samoa Joe battles Shark Boy
and "Primetime" Elix Skipper in triple threat action, Petey Williams goes
one-on-one with The Amazing Red, plus much more as we are almost a week away from
TNA No Surrender!
Match One - Chris Sabin vs David Young
Sabin uses his quickness to keep Young on the defensive for a majority of the
match. Young caught some spots, but was ultimately worn down by the speed of
Sabin. He fell prey to The Cradle Shock and it was over. Samoa Joe stepped in
and proceeded to pound away on Sabin, locking him in the Kikeda Clutch.
Winner Via Pinfall - Chris Sabin
Terry Taylor spoke to AJ Styles who requested an interview, while
Championship Commitee member Larry Zybysko was present. Styles asks for a match with Sean
Waltman at No Surrender, and Zybysko obliges, further saying that Jerry Lynn
would be the special guest referee to make sure everything was "kosher".
America's Most Wanted stood by with Terry Taylor and completely ran down Alex
Shelly and Michael Shane, promoting their match with the two at No Surrender.
Match Two - Mikey Batts vs Zach Gowen
Batts maintains firm control throughout, until Jeff Jarrett comes down and
stops the match. He tells them to leave, Gowen shoves him and takes a guitar
shot for his troubles. Jarrett grabs a mic and says that if any of the new talent
gets in Planet Jarrett, he will take them down, and at No Surrender, he was
taking his title shot from Abyss, and the title from Raven.
No Contest
Match Three - "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe vs "Primetime" Elix
Skipper vs Shark Boy
Joe dominates a majority of this match. Skipper set Shark Boy up so he could
walk the ropes and hit the huricanrana, but Joe broke that up. Shark Boy went
for the Dead Sea Driver, but that was reversed into the Muscle Buster,
followed by the Kikeda Clutch.
Winner Via Submission - Samoa Joe
Match Four - Petey Williams vs The Amazing Red
"The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels joined Mike Tenay and Don West to do
some color commentary. Red hit the Red Storm twice in this match, once off the
ring apron to the floor, and once in the ring. He missed the Infared and was
hit with The Canadian Destroyer, followed by a Sharpshooter. After the match,
Williams and Daniels exchanged words, preparing for their title encounter at No
Surrender. The sharpshooter will now be used by Williams to counter the
statement made by Daniels while he was on commentary, calling Williams a one
dimensional wrestler.
Winner Via Submission - Petey Williams
"The Alpha Male" Monty Brown talked with Terry Taylor, telling the "2 Live
Kru" to answer his challenge, because he has a gift for them, and it's "The
POOOOUNCE!".
Match Five - Abyss w/ Father James Mitchell vs Cassidy Riley
Squash match, with Abyss hitting The Black Hole Slam and getting the three
count. After the match he hit another Black Hole Slam, Raven came down and took
Abyss out, but Mitchell provided the distraction, allowing Abyss to gather his
thoughts and take down Raven, choking him out with the chain until security
broke things up.
Winner Via Pinfall - Abyss
Match Six - Six Man Tag Team Match - Team Canada (A-1, "Showtime" Eric Young
and Bobby Roode) vs Lance Hoyt and The Naturals w/ Jimmy "The Mouth of the
South" Hart
The Naturals had the match in their favor, until Team Canada used their dirty
tactics to swing things their way. Once Hoyt got the hot tag in, it was all
over for the Candians. Roode missed the Northern Lariat, but got caught with a
big boot that put him away. After the match, Petey Williams came out with a
hockey stick and a beat down ensued, as Impact came to a close.
Winners Via Pinfall- Lance Hoyt and The Naturals
Yet another pretty solid Impact. I have no idea whats going on. Impact is
looking really good as of late. If they continue at this pace (and people are indeed watching online and on their select few stations), pay per view buys
will be up. People need to be interested in order for them to buy a PPV, prior
to now, TNA had been showing the same thing over and over in different ways.
Now, they finally have some new things going, some new talent, and better
"Set-Up" shows.
