Trades, draft turn WWE upside down
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun

It's enough to make even the most ardent wrestling fan's head spin.

Wrestlers moving from RAW to Smackdown! And then other wrestlers moving from Smackdown! to RAW.

In an 11-person trade announced this week, RAW received Mark Jindrak, Rene Dupree, Danny Basham, Kenzo Suzuki w/ Hiroko and Chavo Guerrero.

Smackdown gets William Regal, Candice, Sylvain Grenier, Simon Dean and Steven Richards.

The Draft Lottery. I've got to give this year's edition a big thumbs up.

Pretty well every draft selection was an impact player.

This past week saw The Big Show and Rob Van Dam move to RAW.

And Christian and heavyweight champ Batista went the other way. Talk about impact!

Now there are trades going on. And when the dust settles, we'll have to hope that Smackdown! is stronger, more than just a cross-eyed cousin to RAW.

While the draft seemed a bit tilted towards RAW, Batista and Christian turned it in the other direction.

For sure, Christian's Peeps will turn the dial to Smackdown! And Batista is Batista, an animal.

- Markham's beautiful Angus Glen Golf Club will host a RAW vs. Smackdown! charity golf tournament on Aug. 12. All proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House charities. For information on the golf tournament or to purchase foursomes, contact Kelly Wayling at 905-887-0090. Stay tuned for more details.

- WWE will be having a legends weekend at its store in Niagara Falls on July 22-23. Roddy Piper, Bobby Heenan and Gene Okerlund are scheduled to be on hand.

- Could Matt Hardy be thinking about rejoining WWE or will he head to TNA later this month?

- Ric Flair vs. Kurt Angle on RAW was awesome. Flair may be ancient, but he can put on a show. He is still The Man.

- Hulk Hogan returned on RAW and is slated to appear on tomorrow's show, on Carlito's Cabana.

- The Warrior 1 Wrestling megashow in Oshawa last Sunday drew a bit more than 1,000 fans. It was probably the biggest star-studded indy show ever in these parts.

- Sgt. Slaughter will conduct a bikini boot camp for the RAW Diva Search gals tomorrow night. And that's an order.

- Results from last Sunday's Vengeance pay-per-view: Carlito beat Shelton Benjamin; Kane beat Edge; John Cena beat Christian and Chris Jericho; Shawn Michaels defeated Angle; Victoria beat Christy Hemme and Batista beat Triple H in a devastating Hell in a Cell match.
