It's the last day of the draft lottery, and
Smackdown! still is sans champion as Michael Cole and
Tazz bring us the action from Anaheim, California.
Although, Teddy Long has a plan for that problem,
as six men -- scratch that, five men (Big Show got
drafted) -- will face each other for the new Smackdown!
championship.
Muhammad Hassan, with his lap dog, Daivari in tow,
makes his way to the ring. The Anaheim crowd chants
U-S-A at the Arab-AMERICAN. Note the emphasis on
American; he's from Detroit, people. Chanting U-S-A
doesn't really affect him. And during my rant, I
missed Hassan's. I think he said something about being
a victim of discrimination, beating the Big Show, and
how he will win the Smackdown! Championship. Hassan runs
down the Undertaker. The lights go out, bells toll,
the crowd goes nuts, smoke ... um smokes; you know the
drill. Daivari scoots to the apron, and Hassan thanks
'Taker for coming out. Hassan tells the Dead Man that
he has beaten everyone, but the great Muhammad Hassan.
Undertaker grabs Hassan by the throat; Daivari hits a
chair shot, but it doesn't affect Undertaker. Hassan
slips out of the ring, and his mouthpiece gets choke
slammed.
Match #1 -- Chavo Guerrero vs. Paul London ?
Cruiserweight Championship Match
I guess this is a mulligan for last week, as the
Mexicools (I can't believe I just typed that word)
interrupted the fun. Chavo takes down London, but the
champ gets control. A shoulder block sends Chavo to
the mat. London gets a boot up to block a charge, and
then knocks Chavo out of the ring with a mule kick off
the top turnbuckle. Chavo catches himself on the ropes
after a slingshot attempt, and then both men knock
each other down. Once, again, the Mexicools interrupt,
this time each riding a lawn mower. Chavo and London
stop fighting, and brace for an attack. London and
Chavo fend off the attack, momentarily. Super Crazy,
Psicosis, and Juventud overrun the two, and toss
Chavo from the ring. London then falls victim to the
three on one assault. Juvi grabs a mike, and asks if
there are any Mexicans in the house. He tells his
fellow countrymen to rise up against the gringos. The
revolution is coming, people, be ready.
No Contest
A recap of the Eddie Guerrero-Rey Mysterio match
is shown. If you missed it, you missed a match of the
year candidate. Does this mean the feud isn't over? I
hope so. Josh Matthews asks Eddie why he was smiling
after the loss to Rey. Eddie says now he knows the
truth. He says that Rey will beg him not to tell the
truth.
In their locker room, Melina is stretching for her
match with Michelle McCool. Mercury is checking her
out, as she lists all the A-list celebrities that are
coming to watch her first match. If any celebrities do
show, I'll eat my hat.
Match #2 -- Melina vs. Michelle McCool
Oh boy, Michelle just walked out with that
"Oh-my-gawd-I'm-actually-wrestling-in-a-match" face.
We're in trouble. Michelle drives Melina from the ring,
and McCool chases her down, and tosses her back into
the ring. McCool hits a drop kick to the jaw, and
Melina begs for mercy. Melina hits a cheap shot, as
McCool turns to the ref, and then Melina whips her
across the ring. Michelle mounts Melina on the
turnbuckle, and Melina counters with a power bomb.
Melina stacks her up, using the ropes for leverage to
get the pin.
Winner via pinfall: Melina
The tag team champs hit the ring to celebrate.
Melina orders them to hit Michelle with the snap shot,
and the champs oblige. Heidenreich makes the save
seconds too late.
Have I mentioned I don't like Eddie's new music?
Anyway, Latino Heat heads to the ring to call out Rey
Mysterio. Eddie says despite his losses to Rey, he is
a winner, a winner in life. Eddie says he did some
soul searching, and took a camera with him to document
it. Eddie says Rey should find this interesting
because it involves one of his family members. Eddie is
shown at a playground, with Rey's son Dominic. Eddie
asks Rey's son if he likes secrets and bedtime
stories. Dominic says yes, and Eddie gives him a hug,
as we fade back to Eddie in the ring. Eddie wants to
know if he should share their secret with the world.
Mysterio walks out shaking his head. Mysterio tells
Eddie not to say anything. Eddie tells Rey to hit him,
and then pushes him to the mat. Eddie screams that he
always wins. Latino Heat wants Rey to beg for him to
keep quiet. Rey gets on his knees, and Eddie asks him
if he wants some candy. Rey doesn't say a word, and
Eddie smashes the candy into his face, and tells him
to chew on that.
Match #3 -- JBL vs. Chris Benoit vs. Muhammad
Hassan vs. The Undertaker vs. Booker T -- 5 Man
Elimination Smackdown Championship Match
Before the Undertaker hits the ring, Teddy Long
makes an announcement. He adds a replacement for Big
Show, the latest Smackdown! draft pick, Christian.
(And Tyson Tomko is no where to be seen.)
Match #3 -- JBL vs. Chris Benoit vs. Muhammad
Hassan vs. The Undertaker vs. Booker T vs. Christian ?
6 Man Elimination Smackdown Championship Match
Undertaker appears in the middle of the ring as the
lights go out, and everyone scatters, but Christian.
Captain Charisma is overwhelmed, but tries to take it
to the Dead Man. Undertaker hits Christian with Snake
Eyes, but Christian is able to tag in Hassan.
Undertaker is working Hassan over in the corner, as we
come back from break. Undertaker continues to work
over Hassan with body blows. A high elbow slows the
dead man, but Undertaker counters with a big boot.
Undertaker then takes Hassan Old School. Hassan is
whipped into the corner, and when JBL tags himself in.
Hassan dives out of the corner and tags in Benoit. The
rabid wolverine hits a series of chops, and then a
snap suplex. He follows with a running elbow drop, and
then knees to the mid section. He proceeds to tee off
on JBL with chops to the chest. A thumb to the eye
allows JBL to regain the momentum. A lying elbow
knocks down JBL, and Benoit scores hat trick with the
rolling German suplex. JBL has had enough and tags in
Hassan. Benoit is on the wrong end of a suplex, and
then catches an elbow coming off the ropes. Hassan
blocks a suplex, only to spin into a northern lights
suplex. A German release suplex puts Hassan at the
feet of the Undertaker. Hassan hits the Undertaker,
which makes him the legal man. 'Taker tosses Hassan
from the ring. Hassan grabs a chair, but Undertaker
hits a boot. The Dead man grabs the chair, and slams
it over Hassan's back.
Eliminated by DQ: Undertaker
Hassan also heads to the back, and is apparently
out, despite never officially being eliminated. Booker
T takes Undertaker's spot. Booker hits a hip toss, and
then the two exchange chops. Benoit is whipped off
the turnbuckle, and hits the mat. A high knee from
Benoit sends Booker to the mat. Benoit locks in an ab
stretch. Booker breaks free, and catches Benoit's
foot. The Crippler hits an enzugiri and both men get
up after an eight count. Benoit slips away from a
scissors kick, and Booker kicks out of a sharpshooter.
Benoit tries again and is able to lock in the
sharpshooter. Booker climbs to the ropes, and Benoit
slaps on the crossface. JBL tags Benoit, to work over
Booker T. Benoit wisely tags himself back in. Benoit
sets up a superplex, but JBL tags Booker T, while
shoving the two men off the top turnbuckle. JBL covers
Benoit to eliminate him.
Eliminated by pinfall: Chris Benoit
Booker T drops JBL with a spinning leg lariat. In
the corner Christian makes a tag to face Booker.
Christian slaps on a rear naked choke. Christian hits
a standing drop kick, but only gets a two count.
Booker elbows his way out of another chokehold. Booker
knocks Christian down with a clothesline. Christian
ducks a scissors kick, and sets up the un-prettier.
Booker counters with a heel kick, and JBL tags in.
Booker is clotheslined in the corner. JBL sets up a
powerbomb, but Booker counters with a back body drop.
JBL cuts him down with a shot, though. Christian makes
a blind tag on Booker, and he hits JBL with a
clothesline off the top rope. Christian is hit with a
back body drop from JBL, but recovers to hit a tornado
DDT off the second rope. Christian only gets a two
count. JBL hits a neck breaker, and follows with a
rear choke. Christian fights his way out, and ducks
two clotheslines, but gets caught in mid-air. JBL hits
a fall away slam. Booker T tags Christian, and whips
JBL across the ring. A knee to the jaw lays JBL out.
Booker T hits a missile drop kick, but still can't get
the pin. Booker shoots off the ropes, and catches JBL
with a Book End, and JBL still gets the shoulder up.
JBL climbs top rope, only to have Booker catch him in
a scoop slam. He still gets a shoulder up. JBL hits a
thumb to the eye. JBL shoots off the ropes, and
Christian makes a tag. Booker ducks the Clothesline
from Hell, only to get rolled up by Christian.
Eliminated by pinfall: Booker T
Christian and Booker T argue. Christian then turns
around and walks into the Clothesline from Hell.
Eliminated by pinfall: Christian
Winner: JBL
Teddy Long makes his way to the ring and tells JBL
that he has good news and bad news. The bad news is
that he is not the new Smackdown! champ, but the good
news is that JBL is the number one contender for the
new title on Smackdown! Long introduces the last
Smackdown! draft pick, the World Heavyweight Champion,
Batista! The champ poses in the ring as the show goes
off the air.
