Samoa Joe signs with TNA
By JON WALDMAN -- SLAM! Wrestling
Another hot independent name is off the free agent list, as Total Non-stop Action has announced that Samoa Joe will be wrestling with the company starting this Sunday.
TNA made the announcement on their website today, saying that the former Ring of Honor champion will face Sonjay Dutt at the Slammiversary pay-per-view.
"TNAwrestling.com learned on Tuesday night that independent star Samoa Joe has come to terms on a deal with TNA Wrestling," the company said in a release. "Samoa Joe will debut in his first match for TNA Wrestling this Sunday night live on Pay-Per-View at Slammiversary against 'The Original Playa From The Himalaya' Sonjay Dutt."
Joe's signing ends speculation as to which company the indie star would sign with. On June 5th, Joe noted on his website that, "I have spoken to the great people and WWE and TNA, as well as newly garnered interest from New Japan as my former local boss is now the President of the company. I have not made any decisions, and am exploring all the opportunities I am fortunate enough to have presented to me."
TNA's annoucement comes days after it was revealed that fellow RoH star CM Punk would be heading to World Wrestling Entertainment. Another indie star, "The American Dragon" Brian Danielson is also rumoured to be signing with either WWE or TNA.
