SLAM! Speaks: Readers dip into draft pool
By SLAM! Wrestling Staff

Cartoon by Annette Balesteri, our SLAM! Wrestling Editorial Cartoonist

The WWE Draft Lottery begins this Monday, and the staff at SLAM! is ready for it.

Are we, however, more prepared than our readers? This week, it's the pulic's turn to ponder on the picks.

Freddie Caprara
Smackdown to RAW:

Kurt Angle - Angle has run out of competitors on Smackdown!, so moving him to RAW could put him put him up against his old protege, Shelton Benjamin, the champ Batista, and his perennial nemesis Triple H. Not to mention more fun times with Benoit, Edge and Kane.

JBL and his Cabinet - An interesting move would be to have Eric Bischoff 'randomly' pick each member of the Cabinet four weeks in a row, and have JBL try to take over RAW and step in on Evolution's supposed territory. Judging from the backstage segment at Wrestlemania, HHH and JBL could have a good program with each other, and the other three are green enough to be taken to school, simultaneously, by Ric Flair.

Charlie Haas and Miss Jackie - A real-life couple on the same show makes sense for them, but Haas is a very talented wrestler and would make a good addition to the RAW midcard, and the Women's division could sorely use the help Miss Jackie would provide.

Heidenreich - Make him a psycho again and have him and have him and Snitsky get into a "who can scare the Divas better" contest and then beat the hell out of each other for a couple months in completely out of control matches and have them end it all with some crazy gimmick match.

RAW to Smackdown

Christian - It would be obvious, but how much fun would we all have watching a Christian vs. Cena verbal sparring match, and actually have Christian pull an upset win and take his title for like a week? Not to mention fun feuds with Rey Mysterio Jr., Big Show and The Undertaker. Oh, and imagine this: Christian vs. Carlito - pure gold!

La Resistance - Aside from providing more cannon fodder for the Dudleys when they return, you can put them in a program with Rene Dupree and have them make a run at MNM, or have a sort of 'Rene betrayed us' or 'Rene thinks he is too big for us' type thing, and have Dupree believably kick both their asses in some sort of handicap match.

Randy Orton - A brand new roster and a whole new set of legends to kill? Orton on Smackdown! would be a God-send. He gets another shot at the Undertaker, can try to RKO the Big Show, and a Cena/Orton showdown would be a face-off between the future of WWE.

Shawn Michaels - Another God-send to Smackdown, he can just pick any wrestler he wants and rip great matches out of them. Michaels/Guerrero, Michaels/Booker T, and a return to the classic Michaels/Undertaker are possible pairings.

Ric Flair - A character-driven move, more than anything. Flair gets taken early in the draft, is on Smackdown for maybe a couple weeks, but gets traded back to show HHH's influence over Bischoff.

Steven Richards - Disguised as one of the fluff drafts, Richards could possibly make one final glorious run on Smackdown before being thrown back to lower-card hell.

Chris Jericho - Jericho, like Christian, is a victim of the RAW glass ceiling. Put him on Smackdown! and watch as the great WCW throwbacks like Jericho/Guerrero, Jericho/Mysterio, and Jericho/Booker start rolling through, a possible return feud with Christian, and ultimately, after building his cred back up, a run with the WWE title.

Trades

Tyson Tomko to Smackdown - Christian really can't go anywhere without his problem solver.

Ric Flair to RAW - HHH can't do without someone to hold his hand, but Flair was treated too well and had too much fun during his short stint on Thursday nights.

Orlando Jordan to Smackdown - As most of the trades will be used to get wrestlers back on their original shows, Teddy Long would be without a champion, and Bischoff will quickly tire of JBL's antics, sending his Chief of Staff packing back to the farm team.

Ric Flair to Smackdown - HHH will piss Flair off, and Flair will covertly ask Bischoff to go back to Smackdown!, but not without one final glorious bout with Triple H to send him off with a bang.

Rob Van Dam to Smackdown - RVD on RAW, at this point, would just stack RAW hardcore and nothing would be solved. And for some reason, an RVD/HBK set of matches would be fun to see, and RVD/Guerrero and RVD/Orton return bouts would be awesome too.

Cailen Pygott
Raw to Smackdown
Christian who would maybe be able to get some good matches out of Cena for once. While he would have no way of winning thanks to Cena's steam, it would be cool for at some dual ppv for him and Edge to each take the big title.

One of my favourite superstars ever is Gene Snitsky, who hasn't been doing anything for a while. While I hate that Smackdown boasts cruiserweight action and having heavyweights, maybe Snitsky could get something from who they do have. Him and Matt Morgan could probably have some good ones.

And I want Daivari to move to Smackdown and take the Cruiserweight Title as Hassan takes the IC belt (it'll happen...I hope).

Smackdown to Raw

I really want to see Mark Jindrak on Raw and have a rivalry with Tyson Tomko, wich was almost hinted from him and Christian not knowing Jindrak at all.

Either JBL or Orlando Jordan would be awesome on Raw. I think JBL could get some good fights with Triple H over who is the wrestling god, and I want Jordan to escape the Cabinet without staying on Smackdown. I want him to be his own wrestler, but if he up and left the Cabinet, he would kind of still be with them from the rivalry that would ensue.
Charlie Haas and Kurt Angle. For what I want it must be both. Haas could get into a rivalry with Benjamin since he was stuck in random tag teams, while Benjamin excelled at singles matches. Hassan could take it from Benjamin and lose it to Haas a couple of months later and get Benjamin and Haas in a feud, with Angle and Benoit taking sides and having it escalate.

Dale Schaub
I think that it is long overdue to have an overhaul of the announce team. Trading Jerry "The King" Lawler to Smackdown, possibly with a heel turn, could revitalize his career as he has become very stale over the past year. Jim Ross as an announcer is at his best when he is antagonized. Having the Coach fill in or moving Tazz over to the "big show" would be a welcome change.
