Impact: Getting up for Lockdown
By CHRIS SOKOL -- SLAM! Wrestling
What a week in TNA. Kid Kash out of the company...again. Kevin Nash complaining about his knee...again. TNA seems to be on quite the downward slump, and not to be the bearer of bad news, but it's their own fault. Nevertheless, Impact will continue this week, as we anticipate an announcement for Nash's replacement for this Sunday's Lethal Lockdown Cage match. We go to a replay of what happened at last week's Impact when Raven attacked Jeff Hardy after he was done cutting a promo with Shane Douglas. Reminding us tonight's main event will be Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles vs Abyss and Raven. On a side note, for info on Douglas' Hardcore Homecoming event, please keep checking SLAM! Wrestling or www.hardcorehomecoming.com.
Match One- 3 Live Kru vs Lex Lovett, Buck Quatermain, and David Young TNA begins a countdown of the Top Five Cage Match Moments. Chase Stevens' moonsault off the Six Sides of Steel lands him at the number five spot. Clips of TNA stars at IWA Puerto Rico's big show are shown. Jarrett headlined, retaining the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, while AMW retained the tag straps by defeating Team Canada. Abyss was on the card as well. Not a bad deal for TNA. TNA's cage match countdown continues with the four man superplex on "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels gaining the number four spot. A promo for "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper's match at Lockdown is shown. I say this match will steal the show, it's just what everyone has come to expect from them. TNA's cage match countdown rolls on with AMW's Death Sentence off the top of the cage taking the number three spot. Dustin Rhodes joins Mike Tenay and Don West for color commentary, but Bobby Roode comes in with a steel chair and takes out the son of "The American Dream." AMW come out and break things up before it gets any worse.
Match Two- The Naturals w/ Chris Candido and Attorney Daggard vs America's Most Wanted TNA's cage match countdown shows Jeff Hardy's missed Swanton Bomb coming in at number two. A promo video hyping the Lethal Lockdown match is shown. TNA's cage match countdown places Elix Skipper's cage walk at number one. Definitely my most memorable cage match moment.
Match Three- Raven and Abyss and Jeff Hardy and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
That's it for now. Lockdown in my opinion will be a complete disaster. You know why nobody's ever done an all cage match card? Because the idea is horrible. Sure in theory, a cage match is popular, but ever hear the saying, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing? Nevertheless, I wish TNA luck.
Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and would like to know if Kevin Nash wants any cheese with his whine. In all seriousness, he would like to wish Mr. Nash a very speedy recovery.
