Smackdown: Wilson/Dawn Marie classic steals show
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Is it just me, or do you feel a draft? Or maybe, it's because Smackdown! is coming to us from the windy city, Chicago.

Michael Cole and Tazz call the action, as the number-one contender series continues, and Carlito's Cabana debuts, tonight.

Once again, the former champ, kicks off the show. Tonight, however, the U.S. Champion is the focus of the limelight.

Match #1 - Orlando Jordan vs. Booker T

The U.S. champ start off very aggressive, laying into Booker T with a savage beating. Jordan shoots Book off the ropes and knocks him down with a big hit. Booker fights back with a high elbow and then a reverse heel kick. Jordan is shot of the ropes, and Booker hits him with a kick to the jaw. The Bashams hit the ring, and start beating on Booker. Jordan joins in, when Big Show hits the ring. JBL orders his Cabinet to get in the ring, but the Bashams don't move. Teddy Long hits the stage, and announces that the match isn't over, but now it's a handicap match. Jordan and the Bashams will now be taking on Booker T and Big Show.

Match #2 - Orlando Jordan and The Bashsams vs. Booker T and The Big Show

The Bashams clothesline Show over the ropes, but Booker makes the blind tag, and cleans house. Booker T hits the scissors kick on a Bashams and pins him for the victory.

Winners via pin fall: The Big Show and Booker T

After the match, JBL lays into his Cabinet for losing, and gets a little physical. I think someone will be handing in their resignation.

Match #3 - Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn Marie

Does anyone even care who wins the match? And does it matter who wins? It's not like there's even a women's title on Smackdown. Speaking of which, how many Divas on Raw are left that can legitimately contend for that belt? Two, three maybe? Before you rip me for bashing RAW, I have always said the Divas on this show should NEVER wrestle. They are good at, well, looking good, and let's leave it at that.

It looks like I talked through the entire match; Torrie Wilson picks up the victory with a swinging neck breaker.

Winner via pin fall: Torrie Wilson.

The recap of Smackdown!'s swing through Australia is shown.

I have been waiting for this all week. It's Carlito's Cabana. The ring is decorated with palm trees, coconuts and a hammock. Carlito says Piper's Pit, Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel are not cool; Carlito's Cabana - that's cool. Truer words have never been spoken. He says Chicago is not cool. He rips on the Cubs; leave the poor Cubbies alone!

Carlito's first guest is one-half of the Tag Team Champions, Rey Mysterio Jr. Carlito shows Rey's loss to JBL last week. Carlito says what Eddie did wasn't cool, and Rey agrees with him. Rey also says he hasn't talked to him since last week. Rey Rey tells Carlito to stop trying to stir up trouble. Eddie is like a big brother to him. Rey says he will get a chance to be WWE champion. Carlito starts mocking his positive attitude, and says Eddie is jealous. Carlito says things are going to get a lot worse, when a strange music hits. A new tag team walks out with another new Diva. Where are they all coming from?

Carlito doesn't know who they are, but does know that they are cool. The Diva, Melina, grabs the mike and introduces Nitro and Mercury, and they call themselves M-N-M. She says they could debut tonight, and win the Tag Team Titles. Rey insults Melina, and she turns her boys loose on him. Carlito pulls up a chair and watches the destruction. M-N-M leaves, and Carlito looks pleased with his first show.

JBL is reading the riot act to his Secretaries of Defence and Chief of Staff. JBL says he doesn't want anyone with any quit in them, and then blames them for his loss of the WWE title. JBL suggest they shape up or they will be cut loose. JBL runs into a delivery man, who has a package for John Cena. JBL slips the guy a Benji and takes the box, which JBL believes holds the new championship belt. Jordan says we can blow it up, but JBL says he doesn't want it screwed up, and says he will do it himself.

Eddie finds Rey in the trainer's room, and vows to find the wannabe tag team that did this to him. Rey says don't do anything, and asks where he was. Eddie faults car trouble. Eddie then apologizes for last week, and gets real emotional, promising to make it up to him. Eddie promises that when he becomes WWE Champion, he will dedicate it to Rey. Maybe Rey Rey will make the heel turn in this tag team...

The champ is here! John Cena makes his way to the ring. Cena plays to the crowd, and plays up that Wrestlemania XXII will be in Chicago. Cena says it's only fitting that they do the WWE Championship presentation here. Cena calls out JBL for stealing some of his personal property, and that box is very important. Cena says he'll come back and get it if he doesn't bring it out. JBL comes out, with the box, and a garbage can. JBL says he's also missing something else, the WWE Title. JBL has it around his waist. Cena says it doesn't matter, there's a new belt on the way. JBL says no, he won't allow this ceremony to continue, and won't allow Cena to desecrate his legacy. JBL opens to box, and finds meat guts. Cena says the box was a gift for him, a box of guts, since JBL doesn't have any. Cena tosses the box of meat all over JBL. Beef, it's what's for dinner.

Cena's new belt is lowered from the ceiling, and the champ shows it off the crowd.

Match #4 - Heidenreich vs. Jobber

Heidenreich hands a poem to the ref, and goes to work on some dude. Heidenreich keeps calling the guy his friend, before nailing him with a clothesline. A sideslam earns Heidenreich the pin and victory.

Winner via pinfall: Kurt Heidenreich

After the match, Heidenreich pulls another e.e. cummings and reads his poem to the crowd. He even props his opponent up in the corners so he can listen. Breaking Wind in the Windy City goes over surprisingly well, but then again this is Chicago we're talking about.

Booker T is celebrating in the back with his wife, as he poses for pictures. Kurt Angle takes exception to her saying Booker T will be the next WWE Champion. Angle says he will win tonight, and go on to win the title. Booker's woman points out Eddie Guerrero beat Angle at Wrestlemania 20. Angle doesn't know quite what to make of the situation, and neither do I.

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! I just ranted about Divas who can't wrestle, and now there's going to be another RAW Diva search! The last one almost killed me; I don't think I have the willpower to sit through another.

Paul London hits the ring, with a bandaged head. He calls out Chavo Guerrero Jr. for jumping him last week. London says he isn't cleared to wrestle, so he'll just fight. Chavo comes out, mic in hand. He says London stole the championship from him. He has never beaten him one-on-one. Chavo says when London can wrestle; he will take his championship back. Chavo says he won't fight an injured man, as Billy Kidman ambushes London. The champ fights back, hitting a DDT on Kidman, and then nailing the 450 splash.

Match #5 - Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero

Eddie and Angle lock up in the middle of the ring. Latino Heat takes down Angle, but the Olympic champ locks in a head scissors. Eddie almost gets pinned, as Angle reverses and cross arm breaker, but Eddie kicks out. A shoulder block takes down Angle, and then Eddie reverse a hip toss. Angle slides out of the ring to collect himself. Eddie fights out of headlock, and follows up with an arm drag. Eddie then hits the Three Amigos, and jumps on the top turnbuckle. Angle dodges the frog splash, and Eddie rolls through.

We return from break to find Angle beating on Eddie in the corner. Angle then locks in a reverse bear hug. Latino Heat fights out, but runs into a belly-to-belly suplex. Eddie then counters the Angle Slam in a hurricanrana. The ref takes a shot, and Eddie grabs a chair. Eddie tosses the chair to Angle, and Angle tosses it back, and then Angle tosses the chair from the ring. Eddie feigns a chair shot, and almost scores a Schoolboy pin, as the ref question Angle. Then Olympic champ recovers, and hits a German Suplex. Angle slaps on a leg scissors. Eddie breaks the hold, but misses a corner charge and Angle hits another German Suplex. Angle sets Eddie up on the turnbuckle, but Latino Heat fights off. Eddie goes for the Frog Splash, but Angle gets his knees up. Angle nearly scores another pin, as we go to break.

Angle locks in another reverse bear hug. Eddie gets to his feet, and fights out of the hold. Eddie hits two of the Three Amigos, but Angle counters the last one into an Angle Slam. Eddie kicks out of the pin. Angle goes for the ankle lock, but Eddie counters into a small package. Angle gets the shoulders up, and then nails three German Suplexes. Angle goes for another Angle Slam, but is countered with an arm drag. Eddie hits the Three Amigos again, and finally hits the Frog Splash. Angle kicks out at two. Eddie counters out of another ankle lock, and pulls on Angle tights during a sunset flip. Angle locks in the ankle lock, but Eddie rolls through, sending Angle into ref. The ref in out cold on the outside, Angle grabs a chair. Mysterio hits a seated senton on Angle to make the save. Rey picks up the chair, and Eddie freaks out. Rey tries to explain himself, but is hit from behind by Angle. The chair whacks Eddie in the head, and Angle is able to get the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Kurt Angle
