Impact: Rhodes announces all cage matches
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
This week on TNA Impact, we get to see "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles in action, Michael Shane meets up with Chris Sabin, and Kid Kash battles it out with Apolo in the Main Event. With Lockdown a few weeks away, Dusty Rhodes promises a big announcement, and with that being said, let's get on with it! Let's go to the TNA Impact Recap... This week's show kicks off with a recap of the X Division Match from last week. Let's hope they don't give any storylines away before they unfold this week.
Match One- Michael Shane vs Chris Sabin Mike Tenay and Don West put over the fact that Dusty Rhodes will be making a huge announcement and that will affect everyone involved with TNA Lockdown. Dusty Rhodes, Tracy Brooks, and Trinity come ouy. Dusty throws out a stipulation for every match at Lockdown, yes every match. On top of stipulations such as Styles/Abyss in a No.1 Contender's Match, the Jarrett/DDP saga in a Lethal Lottery, and Hardy/Raven in a Tables Match, but every match will be contested inside of a steel cage. All eight matches are steel cage matches. No comment here.
Match Two- Chase Stevens w/ Andy Douglas and Chris Candido vs "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles America's Most Wanted join Tenay and West for commentary. They talk about getting Team Canada inside of the steel cage at TNA Lockdown.
Match Three- David Young and Lex Lovett vs Dustin Rhodes and Cassidy Riley Mike Tenay is standing in the ring when he introduces "The King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett to the crowd. Hatred is a understatement for what these fans feel about Jarrett. Jarrett hypes his Lockdown match up, which should be a interesting encounter. Don't get me wrong, Jarrett is an extremely talented wrestler and mic worker, but the fans hate him for real. He needs to drop the belt soon, or people will be clicking TNA off their television sets. DDP comes in and beats Jarrett down, The Outlaw runs in, but is sent over the ropes. DDP quickly bails and runs into the crowd as The Outlaw and Jarrett look on with disgust. Elix Skipper is talking to a guy backstage, when Christopher Daniels walks in and starts bad mouthing Skipper. Asking him if he really wants his match for the X Division Championship. Skipper says he wants it, Daniels asks if he wants it right here and now, but Skipper declines, saying he wants the whole world to be able to witness the beating. Skipper walks away laughing at the fact that Daniels calls himself "Mr. TNA".
Match Four- Kid Kash w/ Lance Hoyt vs Apolo
Just when I thought TNA couldn't possibly mess things up any worse, they pull this. Eight cage matches! That's way too many to keep the fans interested throughout. By the main event someone will have to do a 450 backflip, corkscrew, through a flaming table with barbed wire in order to keep the fans awake. Good luck with this endeavor, but I don't think it's going to work one bit.
Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY, and was wondering what kind of mishaps would occur if he asked TNA to book him a birthday party. If you have any ideas as to what might happen, email Chris at CJS137@aol.com. |
