Impact: Filling in some X spots
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

As we draw nearer to TNA's next PPV, Destination X, anticipation builds. With a card filled with gimmick matches, Impact turns its attention to filling slots on the card this week, especially with those high-flying X Division dudes.

We start the show off with a recap of what happened between Monty Brown and Trytan on last week's Impact. Hopefully we'll get a chance to see Trytan wrestle this week.

We go to a clip of Abyss and Jeff Hardy fighting in the catering area earlier on in the afternoon. I personally liked that as they were fighting, two crew members sat there eating.

Match One-Petey Williams, "Showtime" Eric Young, and Bobby Roode w/ "Hotshot" Johnny Devine and Coach Scott D'Amore vs Dutin Rhodes and America's Most Wanted
Petey Williams starts off the match, getting beaten on by AMW and Rhodes who make the quick tags in and out. The match quickly degenrates into an all out brawl, D'Amore tries to get involved, but is backdropped. Devine comes in with the hockey stick and causes the distraction allowing Roode to hit Harris with a lariat from behind for the win.
Winners via Pinfall- Petey Williams, "Showtime" Eric Young, and Bobby Roode

We come back to Shane Douglas who is standing by with Raven. Raven cuts a promo about hurting Dustin Rhodes and giving him the punishment he should have been given as a child. He tells Rhodes he is going to set him free. Wow, Raven cuts some damn good promos.

Match Two- Chris Sabin vs Cassidy Riley
Another match to determine who is worthy enough to compete in the X Division Match at Destination-X, Sabin comes out with the heavy offense, taking Riley to the outside and diving out to the floor on him. Both men fight back and forth, until Sabin hits The Cradle Shock for the victory.
Winner via Pinfall- Chris Sabin

"The Alpha Male" Monty Brown comes out to commentate the next match which is...

Match Three- Buck Quatermain vs Kid Kash w/ Lance Hoyt
Kash attempts to use dirty tactics to gain the advantage, but Quatermain fights through it. As soon as the fight spilled out to the floor, Hoyt got involved, beating on Quatermain behind the refs back. With Kash in firm control, he hits "The Money Maker" for the win.
Winner via Pinfall- Kid Kash
Post Match- The lights go out and Trytan appears in the entrace way. Brown calls him down to the ringside area, but Trytan is once again engulfed in smoke and disappears. URGGGGGH!

BG James and Konnan are backstage talking, when The New Age Outlaw walks in and tells James that he has business to discuss with him and only him.

Match Four- "No Gimmicks Needed" Chris Candido w/ The Naturals vs "Primetime" Elix Skipper
Another X Division Shoot Out Match to determine who should be in the Ultimate X match at Destination X. Candido, with help from The Naturals, takes the early advantage and keeps Skipper on the defensive for the early goings of the match. Skipper fights back, but Andy Douglas interferes and once again Candido is in control. Primetime hits the walk the ropes huricanrana, but once again The Naturals interfere. Both men reverse each other, but in the end Skipper hit Sudden Death for the one-two-three.
Winner via Pinfall- "Primetime" Elix Skipper

Next, they take us to a pre-recorded interview with Diamond Dallas Page, in which he talks about his upcoming match with Jarrett, how he's been training and basically the same stuff Kevin Nash said, only it's DDP.

Match Five- "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, Frankie "The Future" Kazarian, and Michael Shane vs Sonny Siaki, "The Truth" Ron Killings, and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
Daniels and Kazarian double team Styles to kick off the match, quick tag in to Michael Shane, who gets caught by Styles knocked for a loop. Ron Killings gets the tag in and proceeds to knock Shane all over the ring. Daniels and Kazarian once again cheat to gain the advantage, thus putting Killings on the defensive. Kazarian and Killings run the ropes and collide at mid ring, and that's when all hell breaks loose. The match comes to a finish when Michael Shane hit Siaki with a Superkick to the face.
Winners via Pinfall- "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, Frankie "The Future" Kazarian, and Michael Shane

"The King Of The Mountain" Jeff Jarrett comes out to put his commentating skills to work for...

Match Six- The New Age Outlaw vs Diamond Dallas Page
The match doesn't take place as Jarrett and DDP brawl throughout the crowd. The New Age Outlaw comes out, as does Kevin Nash. It's an all-out brawl as NWA TNA Impact comes to a close.
Winner- No Contest

Wow, not the greatest Impact, but it served its purpose. It was X Division week apparently, which is not a bad thing, but I am just sick of watching Buck Quatermain and Cassidy Riley job every week. Bring in some more new faces or Impact will get stale! Moving forward, DDP is going through the same phases Kevin Nash did in preparation for his title match. Everything just seems the same, and that won't do anything for ratings. With all that being said, let's hope next week provides us with some new things.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and can't wait for Trytan to actually compete in a wrestling match. It's a novel idea isn't it? If you agree and find yourself with some free time, email Chris at CJS137@aol.com.
