Wrestlemania 22 headed to the "windy city"
By JASON CLEVETT -- SLAM! Wrestling

Wrestlemania is headed back east in 2006, an article in The Des Plaines Journal has announced. The Allstate Arena in Chicago will be the site of Wrestlemania 22 next April.

The 20,000 seat arena isn't a stranger to the Wrestlemania stage. When it was known as the Rosemont Horizon, it hosted the portion of Wrestlemania 2 headlined by the NFL vs. WWF Battle Royal. Wrestlemania 13 hit Chicago in 1997 with the classic Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin "I Quit" match and headlined by Undertaker defeating Sid for his second WWF Championship.

According the article a special luncheon for Chicago area media will be held this Friday at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center where the announcement will be made.

"This event will bring thousands of fans from around the world to Rosemont," said a press release issued by Rosemont late last week. "It will be an event with a significant economic impact on our global hospitality industry and it will generate global television exposure for our community."
