WWE releases Jamie Noble
By JON WALDMAN - SLAM! Wrestling
The Smackdown! roster got a little thinner today as World Wrestling Entertainment has announced that Jamie Noble is no longer with the company.
The announcement was made official today on the federation's website, wwe.com, with the following message: "World Wrestling Entertainment and Jamie Noble have parted ways. WWE would like to wish Noble all the best in his future endeavors."
Noble had been with the company since 2002, wrestling primarily in the Cruiserweight division. Upon his arrival to WWE, Noble was paired with former Tough Enough winner Nidia, and inserted into a feud with The Hurricane. Noble would quickly gain the Cruiserweight title, and would hold it for nearly five months before dropping the belt to Billy Kidman.
Following his title run, Noble remained with Nidia, primarily working on Velocity. He would occasionally appear on Smackdown! with Nidia, in an angle where Nidia was believed to have been blinded by Tajiri. The two, however, would break up and fight at No Way Out. Noble's last pay-per-view match would take place at Wrestlemania XX, when he was part of the Cruiserweight Invitational.
Prior to becoming part of WWE, Noble was part of World Championship Wrestling. Originally teaming with Kaz Hayashi and Jimmy Yang (Akio in WWE), Noble would leave the trio and team with Evan Karagias while making a name for himself in the Cruiserweight division.
Jon Waldman has been with SLAM! since 2000.
