Kane-Lita storyline has room to grow
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun

I've got to admit, I like the idea of a Kane-Lita wedding. In an age where storylines run their course so quickly, this has potential to last ... and last ... until finally Lita becomes ... well, just like Kane. Now, WWE has a few directions in which it can spin this storyline.

Lita could continue to play the unhappy wife, doing whatever she can to sabotage Kane's matches.

Matt Hardy could finally ride to the rescue, "saving" his "girlfriend." Better yet, his real-life brother, Jeff Hardy, could show up and help him out.

Or best, Lita gradually turning to the dark side -- becoming more and more evil each week. So evil that even Kane eventually becomes disgusted and asks for a divorce. Maybe it all has been a ruse, one to drive her husband away.

The key to this is the length of the storyline. Work it bit by bit, week by week. Carry it over into next year's WrestleMania.

- Just because Brock Lesnar has been released by the National Football League's Minnesota Vikings doesn't mean he's done with football. The Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers put Lesnar on their negotiating list, but don't expect him to show up in Canada. The Vikings would like Lesnar to play in NFL Europe. It isn't surprising that Lesnar was released, given that he hadn't played football in so long. It wouldn't be surprising to see him return to wrestling, if only on a part-time basis.

- Tom Pritchard has been released by WWE, according to several sources. Pritchard, who was heavily involved in WWE's developmental group, teamed with Jimmy Del Ray as The Heavenly Bodies in the 1990s. And as Zip, he also teamed with Chris Candido (Skip) as the BodyDonnas (managed by Sunny).

- Say a prayer for Steve (Dr. Death) Williams, who is facing possible laryngectomy. Radiation and chemotherapy to battle his throat cancer have not worked.

- UWA Hardcore Wrestling will hold its Grand Prix tournament on Sept. 24 at St. John's Hall (2185 Stavebank Rd.) in Mississauga. Tickets are $10 at the door. The main event will see The Amazing Darkstone put his heavyweight title on the line against Mickey Night.

- Great news for the Toronto area: Some all-time greats will appear at the Titans in Toronto dinner, Sept. 18 in Mississauga. There'll be a wrestling show in the afternoon at the Galleria Mall (Dufferin & Dupont), followed by a dinner at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Marriott. Among those scheduled to appear: Johnny Powers, Waldo von Erich, Ida Mae Martinez, Baron Mikel Scicluna, Dewey (The Missing Link) Robertson, (No Class) Bobby Bass, (Rotten) Reginald Love and (Beautiful) Bruce Swayze from the Love Brothers, (Wolfman) Willie Farkus, Ron Doner, Terry Morgan, Chuck Simms, Milt Avruskin, Tim Gerrard, Paul and Carl Leduc. George (The Animal) Steele will MC the dinner. Click here for more info.

- Hulk Hogan is shooting his mouth off. Seems he's finally responding to Macho Man Randy Savage's challenge. The Hulkster says he'll take on Savage -- for free. Okay now, Hulkster. I've got a challenge for you. I'll take you on for free. And I won't stay down for the three count after you give me the deadly leg drop.

- As much as I am enjoying RAW these days, I've got to admit I still miss Stone Cold Steve Austin. We need a little more hell raisin'. And why not bring back D-Generation X? I know ... I'm starting to sound like a broken record.

- I wouldn't be surprised if Triple H's other Evolution members start to turn against him soon.
