One of the more prominent DVD companies on the wrestling market is Niolan Entertainment.
The company, based in Gent, Belgium, has been a recent entry into the wrestling
recording industry, but it is already making an impact, with sales not only
through Internet outlets, but through major retailers, such as Tower Records
and Best Buy, as well.
One of Niolan's latest releases, entitled The Shooting Range, concentrates,
as the name implies, on shoot interviews done by the company with several names
in the business, including New Jack, Vic Grimes, Konnan, Vampiro and Chris Hamrick.
Niolan's Michael Moody notes that this DVD is a particularly interesting piece, because the interviews give both sides of some of wrestling's more interesting behind-the-scenes rivalries. "Most dedicated and well educated professional wrestling fans
are familiar with the extreme heat between New Jack and Vic Grimes and also
the hatred between Konnan and Vampiro dating as far back as their early years
in Mexico."
Another large Niolan project wrapped up earlier this summer, when the company
concluded a call for independent wrestling feds to send them tapes for assembly
on a compilation DVD. The results of the search, as Moody notes, were incredible,
thanks in part to the reputation Niolan has as in the industry.
"Promoters
and wrestlers want to work with Niolan Entertainment because we are a huge company
that is 100% reliable and honest," Moody says. "You have to understand
that the DVD distribution business is a very dirty game. I know over 100 DVD
producers that have had their productions released in the stores and they never
once received a cheque from the distributor and that is a crime."
"Niolan Entertainment has a strong reputation to protect and we would
never allow for that to be ruined. Promoters and owners of pro wrestling tape
libraries realize how serious we are in terms of protecting our image and they
realize that Niolan Entertainment is one of the few distributors interested
in pro wrestling DVDs that can be 100% trusted."
Moody is also quick to point out that the recent releases by Niolan aren't just
a quick fad for the multi-genre production company. He explains that Niolan
is committed to producing an entire library of recordings that will be released
for the remainder of the year. "We are not looking to release just one DVD
of pro wrestling footage," he says.
"Niolan Entertainment is a company that thinks big and we make huge things
happen. Expect to see a lot of pro wrestling DVDs released throughout the next
year by Niolan Entertainment and I promise that our production quality will
make our competitors look bad. Niolan Entertainment is dealing with the hottest
wrestling promotions in the world, the footage is superb, the DVD box art will
also be extremely impressive and our DVDs will stand out from the competition
as something very special."
