Smackdown: Angle in action and auctioned
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

With just 10 days remaining before WWE broadcasts Summerslam live from Toronto, Smackdown airs from Houston, TX. Tonight's card looks like a regular card, nothing too special. We will see whos fighting Booker T at Summerslam, but other than that, it's your average Smackdown. In other words some people will be sawing logs by the end of the show. Anyway let's continue as more drama unfolds leading into WWE's 17th Summerslam!

We begin this evening with a message from Teddy Long. He has pictures of Vince McMahon and Martin Luther King Jr. behind him. He said one had a dream and the other had a vision. Both shaped his life. He wants people to holla, knock on your neighbors' doors, that's how could Smackdown will be tonight, ha ha ha, excuse me, he says it will be off the hizzle. BRING BACK REVEREND SLICK! Umm, next is the Number One Contenders Match for a shot at Booker's US gold.

Match One- #1 Contenders Match For A Shot At The US Title- John Cena vs Rob Van Dam

Both men start off by grappling. They both fight into the ropes. They grapple again and Cena is Monkey Flipped for the two count. They both get up and grapple again, what's this a Kenzo Suzuki match? Anyway they reverse each other and stand off. Both guys were pretty slow at this point, but they can draw the EC-DUB! chants. The crowd goes back and forth with who they want to cheer. Shoulder block takes RVD out of the ring. They exchange right hands on the outside, but a kick to Cena's head will lay him out. Cena goes head first into the barricade. Cena is hung up on the barricade, punches to Cena. RVD goes for that spinning corkscrew legdrop of the apron, but Cena does escape. RVD and Cena grapple, with Cena suplexing RVD from the ring to the floor. We now go to a commercial break, with the way this match has been going, I will savor the commercial break. We come to back to Cena in control of Rob Van Dam. Cena suplexes RVD for a two. RVD reverses Cena with a kick to the face and another kick. RVD comes at Cena with a punch and he bounces his head off the turnbuckle and kicks him in the jaw. We find Booker watching the monitor in the back. I guess he woke up right in time to be on TV, this match has been tough ... to watch that is. Shoulder blocks and a Northern lights suplex for a two by RVD. Rolling Thunder for the one-two-NO! TWOOOOOOOO. Booker is shown in the back saying finish him, finish him. I am with you Booker. Cena gets kicked again, Five Star, no leg drop from the top rope. Two count on Cena. Cena comes back with a DDT on RVD. Two count on RVD. Cena clotheslines RVD. Elbow to face of RVD. Thumbs up from Cena who shoulderblocks RVD for a two count. HIT YOUR FINISHER, IT'S THE ONLY WAY! Five Knuckle Shuffle for the two. Cena goes out to the apron. He's on the top rope only to get kicked in the head and punched. More punches follow and a superplex follows and it's countered into a pin for the three. THANK YOU!

Winner Via Pinfall and Number One Contender for the US Title- John Cena

Cena and RVD shake hands after the match. They show Booker who is upset. Teddy Long then walks into Booker T's lockeroom. Teddy asks Booker how he feels about Cena being his opponent. Since they are evenly matched and Booker was the Five Time US Champ, they will have a BEST OF FIVE SERIES. Cough ... WCW ripoff ... cough. Cena is shown high fiving the fans. With the Best of Five Series set, match one being at Summerslam. It brings me to the fact that June we saw WWE GAB, October is WWE Halloween Havoc and a Best of Five Series this month. Wait, stop the presses, breaking news, next week we will be visited on Smackdown by Billionaire Jed Jurner and his asscoiate Rince Vusso. Is this WCW or WWE nowadays?

We come back from commercials to Eddie Guerrero pulling out in a low rider with some mamacitas who include, Sable, Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie. Cole asks why he can't come out with divas. That question will be answered Cole, but only if you look into a mirror. The Kurt Angle auction gear is in the ring with the Divas and Eddie has a mic. Eddie wants us to check out the mamacitas. The countdown has started for Kurt Angling. Ten days from a good oldfashioned ass whuppin' according to Mr. Guerrero. Eddie brought the Divas to raise the value of the items. He puts the Angle cast on Torrie's leg. She sits in the wheelchair as well. Sable then signs the cast. Dawn Marie then signs the cast, followed by Torrie. Eddie then has Sable hold up the Kurt Angle poster. Eddie says they look really really good, he's talking about her puppies if you didn't know. They all sign the poster. Eddie asks them who won at Wrestlemania XX (Kurt's last match to this date), apparently it was Eddie who won. Tribute to Warner Wolf here "Let's go to the video tape." They show Eddie's win. We come back and now Eddie's in the wheelchair. Eddie says he will win and embarass Kurt at Summerslam which is being dubbed The Summer Games. Eddie will leave Kurt and the rest of the WWE in the starting box. They show a Summerslam commercial with all the runners, Guerrero being one of them in the starting box, the gun goes off and nobody but Guerrero can move, HE GLUED 'EM TO THE START BOX. Ha Ha, best commercial yet as Guerrero does a salsa dance while the commentators say that "He really stuck it to the competition."

(The actual proceeds from the auctions went to the Tomorrow's Childrens Fund for kids with cancer.)

Match Two- Rene Dupree w/Fifi vs Orlando Jordan

Ugh, we still have to deal with this Jordan guy. Didn't they send him to OVW because he sucked? The two lock up in the center of the ring and Rene pushes Orlando to the corner. Jordan punches Dupree only to get thrown over the top rope. Jordan's head bounces off the steel steps. Rene throws Dupree into the ring. Rene punches Jordan. Knocks him down for the two count. French Tickler and Rene turns around into a crossbody for the three count. At least it was short. He still sucks.

Winner Via Pinfall-Orlando Jordan

We show JBL arriving as Josh Matthews goes to interview him. JBL talks a bunch of crap about doing community work and not being afraid of The Undertaker. JBL gets better and better as a heel. You have got to give him that. JBL says that FDR (Franklin Roosevelt) another man who went by his initials said "There was nothing to fear but fear itself." JBL says that he doesn't fear The Undertaker.

Match Three- Kurt Angle w/Luther Reigns vs Charlie Haas w/Miss Jackie

Finally Angle in a wrestling ring again. Phew. Smackdown has a hope now. Dead Weight Luther gets the honor of escorting him down to the ring. These two lock up. Its like Deja Vu. These two reverse each other and a standoff. Wow didn't that happen in the openeing match? Yeah, but these two did it better tonight. Angle gets on Charlie Haas, but is reversed. These two go through more reverses. This far into the match and it's already match of the night. Headlock takedown by Charlie Haas. Shoulderblock by Angle, but Haas comes back with armdrags and Angle rolls out of the ring. We comes back and Angle kicks Haas and puts him in a headlock. Angle snapmares Charlie Haas and puts on a chokehold. The two men battle with top wristlocks. Angle again takes Charlie down to a chorus of boos. Punches by Angle. Such intensity by the Olympic Gold Medalist! Luther watches on, which is all he should ever do. Charlie comes back with a suplex for the two and punches. Angle sends Haas to the corner. Kick to Angle's face, but Angle comes back with a belly to belly suplex. Kicks and choke with the foot by Kurt Angle. Snap suplex by Angle for the two count. Choke by Angle. Haas comes back with elbows and Angle high knees him. Body Scissors applied by Kurt. Choke by Angle. Rights by Angle. Charlie is hurting. Into the corner goes Haas. Elbow to Angle's face and Angle is thrown to the outside. Haas goes to pull Angle in and Angle brings him down on the top rope. Angle is sent shoulder first into the steel post. T-Bone Suplex for the two count. Twisting Axehandle off the top rope by Charlie Haas. Charlie hits Angle on the back and neck. Roll through by Angle into the Angle Lock. Reversed into the second rope goes Angle and a roll up for the two. Angle Slam and another Angle Lock by Kurt Angle and Charlie does TAP! Glad to see Angle in the ring. He shows no signs of ring rust at all.

Winner Via Submission-Kurt Angle

****EXCLUSIVE SLAM WRESTLING REPORT ANGLE AFTER HIS MATCH****

Josh Matthews asks Angle how he feels to be back for his first match since WWE Wrestlemania XX and Angle says he feels great. Angle says that he will make Guerrero tap at Summerslam and if Josh stays there for too long, he will make him tap too. Josh runs away and Angle and Luther laugh.

Cole and The Tazmanic, err, Tazz, run down the WWE Summerslam Card. EXCELLENT CARD. Toronto you guys are lucky. The U.S. doesn't get PPVs this good.

We go to the Raw Rebound so if you missed Raw why don't you rebound to Nick Tylwalk's Raw Report. It's the least you can do, this guy has to sit down and watch Raw each week.

On a side note the Chris Benoit DVD commercial airs. Not to put it over or anything but I own it and really enjoy it. The extras look incredible. I watched the whole documentary and must say its well done, you get history, a tour of the Hart home and more. It's a well done DVD. Buy it at the SLAM! Store, you won't be dissapointed.

Match Four- WWE Tag Team Championship Match Paul London and Billy Kidman vs The Basham Brothers

Matching gear worn by the champs. Good move, to quote Koko B Ware "A good tag team needs matching ring wear." Take that for what it's worth. Out come The Buried By Management Brothers. Kidman puts an arm ringer on Danny and rolls Danny up for a two count. Moonsault onto Danny by a fresh Paul London for a two count. Armlock on Danny. Drop Toe Hold and Kidman comes off the top on Danny. Kidman is on the apron and is knocked off by Doug Basham. They are going faster than I am typing. Double team by The Bashams and they hang Kidman over the top rope and a two count on Billy Kidman. Doug drives a foot into Kidman. Bearlock by Doug Basham on Kidman. Kidman is sent sternum first into the turnbuckle and Danny comes in to get a two count on a fallen Kidman. Dropkick by Kidman and in comes Doug Basham and in comes Paul London who is cleaning house. Two count on Doug. Danny hooks Paul's leg as he goes into the rope. A lot of fast action and a Basham goes down and is hit by a 450 Splash by Paul London for the three count. Incredible move. Great tag team. Bashams, consider yourselves BASHED.

Winners Via Pinfall and Still WWE Tag Team Champions-Paul London and Billy Kidman

We see Spike and Rey going over strategy.

We go to a commercial of Cena telling us to vote, so do it.

Heidenreich Promo. Someone shut this guy up. Nobody can stop him? Yeah people have -- they are called WWE Management and they will do it again.

Match Five- Rey Mysterio and Spike Dudley vs The Dudley Boyz

They show a clip of Rey throwing an opening pitch at a San Diego game--stick to getting your ass kicked by Spike, Rey. Bubba pushes Spike into the corner while asking Spike if he is kidding him. Spike takesdown Bubba and puts him in a headlock. Dropkick by Spike and Rey tags in and hits a dropkick off the top rope. Spike tweaks his knee. Rey hits a moonsault on D-Von, but Spike is hurt. Spike comes in and jumps down and hurts his knee again. Ref gives the X signal. Rey gets kneed by Bubba and Bubba says "he's hurt and now you're hurt." D-Von puts Rey in a bearlock. D-Von clotheslines Rey and then Bubba takes on Rey and just beats him. Rey kicks D-Von and Bubba comes in and gets drop-toe holded into the middle turnbuckle. Rey is cleaning house. D-Von holds Rey and is accidentally hit by Bubba. Rey goes for the pinfall on Bubba for a two. More action unfolds. Bubba is set for a 6-1-9. D-von trips Rey and Rey gets the 3-D for the three.

Winners Via Pinfall-The Dudley Boyz

After the match Spike apologizes to Rey, then he low blows him. Spike's a heel HA HA. GOOD LUCK! He's a heel like, Kenzo Suzuki is talented. Spike tells The Dudleys to get the table. They place Rey on the table and Spike jumps off the top rope on him through the table.

****SLAM WRESTLING REPORT EXCLUSIVE REY MYSTERIO GETS MEDICAL ATTENTION******

Rey tells the trainer he can't be that good. He is asked how his head is, he said it's okay, but he might have whiplashed it when the table broke. He says all the pain is on his right side. He has to stay bent over because when he stays straight it hurts. They tell him they are going to take X-Rays to make sure nothing is sticking.

JBL comes out to the ring and calls out The Undertaker just as promised. DONG DONG, lights go out and here comes Mini Undertaker. LOL. This is great. Wheres Mini Vader and Mini Mankind? Where are they WWE? At least we get to see the Little Deadman. JBL insults him with a whole bunch of short jokes and then picks him up for a tombstone piledriver. The lights go out and from behind comes The Undertaker. JBL throws the Mini Undertaker to The Undertaker who lets him drop. JBL says that he didn't tell the little guy to dress up like Undertaker, but Undertaker goes to Tombstone him only for Orlando Jordan to come in and make the save. Smackdown then goes off the air, THANKFULLY.

*****SLAM WRESTLING REPORT EXCLUSIVE AFTER SMACKDOWN WENT OFF THE AIR*******

Undertaker goes to leave the ring. Little Taker has been left out and is being taken away by the paramedics. They tape him onto the board. Tony Chimmel says "Let's have a nice round of a applause for our Undertoddler." LOL

Yes, this week was tough. We were forced to see Orlando Jordan in action and a tough opening contest between two damn good wrestlers. We also were forced to watch a crappy tag main event. At least Angle and Kidman/London's matches were good. At least we didn't have to watch Kenzo Suzuki chop his way through a match. WWE gained more steam though heading into the PPV which is always a plus. It actually looks like a watchable PPV. All they need to do is add Regal vs Flair and we will be in business. Good luck WWE.
