Last hurrah for Hart house
By CHRIS GERRITSEN - Calgary Sun

The historic Hart Mansion.

The end of an era is near. The famed Hart house, home base for Calgary's first family of wrestling, has been sold. Keith Hart tells Page Six the home where his father, wrestling legend Stu Hart, and his mother, Helen, raised the kids, will belong to someone new at the end of August. The house was purchased by a local restaurateur whose name has not been released.

"There's a lot of mixed emotions about the the house going," says Keith. "But outside (brother) Bret, I don't think anyone could have afforded to take it."

The Hart home is a heritage site and won't be demolished. The new owner has decided to keep the carpets and furniture. The memories hanging on the walls, however, will be taken down and Keith says much of it will be placed in a museum of memorabilia being built by longtime family friend Frank Sisson.

But first, Keith says there will be one last hurrah at the Hart family home on Aug. 14 for friends and fans.

The day will also serve as a fundraiser, with a number of special events planned, for the Stu Hart Amateur Sport Foundation in support of amateur wrestling in Calgary.

Tickets are $50 each and are available at Frank Sisson's Silver Dollar centre or King of the Mat Wrestling Club at 630-5585.
