Torrie touts TV taping
Smackdown to air from arena
By KEVIN ENGSTROM -- Winnipeg Sun

Wrestling stars John Cena and Torrie Wilson are going to lay the Smackdown on local wrestling fans today. The World Wrestling Entertainment superstars will be in Winnipeg this afternoon to announce that one of the company's television shows, Smackdown, will be taped from Winnipeg Arena July 6.

Wrestling fans are invited to the press conference at 1:30 p.m. in the arena's Hometown Heroes lounge.

Tickets for the event range from $20 to $50 and go on sale tomorrow at all Select-A-Seat locations.

Smackdown airs Thursday nights on UPN stations in the U.S. as well as on The Score in Canada. It is routinely among each network's highest-rated programs, with millions of fans across North America watching each week.

The program is also seen in several other countries all over the world.

The television tapings are the first in Winnipeg for the WWE since October 1995, when a live pay-per-view show aired from the arena.
