Brock Lesnar quitting wrestling

Brock Lesnar has joined a growing list of WWE talent who will not be around after WrestleMania XX. According to various reports, Brock Lesnar announced to the Smackdown! staff at the taping in Atlantic City last night that he will be hanging up his tights after WrestleMania XX...for good.

At the pre-show meeting, Lesnar reportedly told everyone that although he loves performing in the ring, everything else about the lifestyle has taken its toll on him, especially the hectic travel schedule. He is debating what the future holds for him and may pursue a career in professional football or acting.

It has been rumoured that WWE management knew of Lesnar's decision for quite some time which is why they had him lose the WWE Championship to Eddie Guerrero at the No Way Out pay-per-view.

Lesnar gained the attention of the WWE after a successful amateur wrestling career at the University of Minnesota which saw him win the NCAA National Wrestling Championship in 2000. He made such an impression while being trained in Ohio Valley Wrestling that the WWE signed him almost immediately to a full-time contract with the company.

Brock Lesnar's first World Championship title win in the WWE came when he defeated The Rock in 2002. Brock became the stalwart WWE Champion beating Kurt Angle twice for the belt in 2003.

The news of Lesnar's departure is devastating for the WWE who elevated him as a main eventer of the Smackdown! promotion. Following WrestleMania, the WWE will probably see their top talent roster thin out as The Rock, Mick Foley and possibly Goldberg depart and others such as Triple H and Ric Flair take time off from the squared circle.
