Backlash in Edmonton
By SCOTT ZERR - Edmonton Sun

EDMONTON -- Vince McMahon is making good on his promise to bring Edmonton a major World Wrestling Entertainment extravaganza. The WWE made official Monday night what had been rumoured for the past few months - that the pay-per-view Backlash will be held in Edmonton at Rexall Place on April 18. Wrestling fans had been clamouring for the WWE to bring Edmonton its first PPV telecast after hosting several house shows, live broadcasts of RAW and a taping of Smackdown!

"The history of the World Wrestling Entertainment in Edmonton goes back more than two decades," said Ed Cohen, the WWE's executive vice-president of live events and event booking.

"I am thrilled with this decision - they deserve it."

Backlash is a RAW-exclusive show, so fans can expect to see the likes of Triple H, Chris Jericho and Trish Stratus and quite possibly Edmonton's own Chris Benoit, who has been linked to a move from Smackdown! to RAW for a shot at the world heavyweight title.

Tickets for Backlash go on sale Feb. 21 at Ticketmaster outlets.
