Smackdown!: Cena turning face
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Survivor Series is ten days away, and Brock Lesnar\'s team is still a man down. Smackdown! is winging it from Buffalo, New York, and Michael Cole and Tazz bring the action from ringside.

No intro to Smackdown! tonight. Who\'s that kicking off the show? It\'s Rey Misterio!

Match #1 -† Rey Misterio vs. John Cena

Last week, Brock asked Cena to join his team. Cena never answered him. Cena raps on Misterio, calling him the Mexican Gary Coleman, but doesn\'t take any shots at the crowd. Hmm - Could there be a face-turn coming? (Yes, I read the spoilers, leave me alone!) Misterio utilizes his speed to avoid Cena, countering a power-bomb with a hurricarana. Cena does catch Misterio on the top rope, and nails him with a huge verticle suplex. Misterio bounces back, hitting the 619, but nailing the ref in the process. Cena catches Misterio with a low blow in mid-air during the West Coast Pop. Cena lands the F-U, and picks up the win.

Winner via pin-fall: John Cena

Team Lesnar with Paul Heyman congratulate Cena on his win. Heyman then tells Cena he is the fifth member of the team. Cena says not so fast, nobody tells him what to do. A-Train blindsides Cena, and Matt Morgan and Nathan Jones jump in the ring to pound on Cena. After a choke slam from The Big Show, Lesnar nails Cena with an unprotected chair shot.†

After the break Team Lesnar approaches A-Train, and offers him the fifth spot. He gladly accepts.

Smackdown! recaps the recent fall of Eddie Guerrero. First he is beaten to a bloody pulp to the Big Show. Then he loses the U.S. Title to Show. And then, he loses the Tag Team Titles to the Bashams. After all that, the Bashams punk him the following week as he tries to apologize to his friends and family. Poor guy.

Chavo gives Eddie a pep talk, getting Latino Heat fired up for his match with the Basham\'s later. Chavo tells Eddie to make things right.

Match #2- Bradshaw vs. The Big Show

Bradshaw is looking for revenge, as Big Show took out Farooq last week. Bradshaw drives the giant into a steel post to start the match. Bradshaw also sends Show in an unprotected security barrier. It\'s not enough, though. Show catches Bradshaw with a choke slam, and that\'s all she wrote.†

Winner via pinfall: The Big Show†

Paul Heyman corners Torrie Wilson backstage. Paul needs a favor done within three minutes, and done with a smile. It\'s good to see Paul is trying to bring back service with a smile.†

Kurt Angle is on the phone in his locker room. It\'s bad news; Farooq is hurt and won\'t be able to wrestle at Survivor Series. Torrie Wilson interrupts with a message from Heyman. He and Benoit will be taking on Lesnar, Jones, Morgan, and A-Train, tonight. I don\'t see a smile, Torrie!

An interview with Taker airs. He explains that Vince doesn\'t respect anyone, and he needs to be held accountable for his actions. That\'s why Undertaker made the Buried Alice match versus Vicne, and not for the title.

Match #3 - Eddie Guerrero vs. The Bashams with Shaniqua

Shaniqua whips her boys in the ring, literally, to get them fired up for this match. Eddie takes it to Doug, tossing him from the ring. Shaniqua kicks Eddie in the side of the head, as he goes after Doug on the arena floor. Eddie holds his own in this handicapped match, setting Danny up for a frog splash. Shaniqua distracts the ref and Eddie, and Doug switches in for Danny. Eddie notices, and doesn\'t go for the splash. Instead, he grabs Shanequa\'s whip, and whips Doug with it. He then tosses the whip to Doug, as the ref turns around. Eddie the beats Doug with a simple roll-up, as Doug is admonished by the ref.

Winner via pinfall: Eddie Guerrero†

Eddie and Chavo ride off during the break to celebrate the win, and their number one contenders status.

Vince chews up good screen time to tell us that he has been chosen by God to bury the Undertaker alive. He got down on one knee and had a single spot light on him and everything. His ego was barely contained by arena security.†

Match #4 - Tajiri and Nunzio vs. Ultimo Dragon and Jamie Noble

Noble wants revenge on Tajiri for injuring Nidia, but now Tajiri has his mafia buddies. Noble picks up the win, after reversing a cradle pin. Noble then clears the ring before Tajiri\'s žfriendsÓ can get to him.

Winner via pinfall: Ultimo Dragon and Jamie Noble

Match #5 - Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit vs. Brock Lesnar, Matt Morgan, Nathan Jones, and A-Train

Brock Lesnar doesn\'t even bother to help for the first have of this match, instead he joins Cole and Tazz at the announce position. There\'s no real need for Lesnar either, as his teammates overpower Angle and Benoit. The champ finally gets involved when Benoit is laid out in front of the announce table. Lesnar gets in some cheap shot, before tossing Benoit back in the ring. The faces fight back. Angle hits rolling German suplexes on Lesnar, and then delivers an Angle slam to Morgan. He then ducks a bicycle kick from A-Train that connects with Jones instead. Angle slaps the ankle lock on Lesnar, while Benoit applies the Crippler Cross Face to A-Train. Big Show runs in and saves his teammates, choke slamming Angle. Bradshaw enters and nails Show with a clothesline from Hell. The heels regroup, but Cena avenges his attack with a steel chair. Jones and Morgan both take shots, before Cena is overpowered by A-Train. Lesnar then takes out Angle with a chair shot. The heels stand in victory in the ring.

Dale Plummer is a rookie on the Slam! Wrestling staff. Dale is expecting a call from Kurt Angle any minute now to join his team at Survivor Series.
