Stupendous Hart salute
By MELISSA RIDGEN - CALGARY SUN

Wrestling fans young and old piled into Frank Sisson's Silver Dollar Casino last night to watch old Stampede Wrestling footage in memory of Stu Hart. "One of the things Stu used to talk about was his great elbow smash -- nobody could take his elbow smash, that was his finishing move," said longtime friend Rio Sollway, who used to go for pizza with Stu every week after wrestling.

Ron Brown and Joan MacGougan arrived more than an hour before the trip down memory lane began at 7 p.m. and said they were eager to watch old-time quality wrestling.

"This is wrestling -- the old stuff," said MacGougan, who for several decades made it to Stampede Wrestling nearly every week.

Stu Hart died last week at age 88 after a bout with pneumonia, a stroke and failed kidneys. His wife Helen passed away in 2001.

Many of the couple's 10 surviving children attended the video tribute last night, including Bret "Hitman" Hart.

"This is all about fun," Sisson said of the evening. "Stu lived a good life."

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at First Alliance church, 1201 Glenmore Tr. S.W.
