New Hart health scare
By KRISTEN ENEVOLD -- CALGARY SUN

Stu Hart remains in hospital after developing pneumonia -- but family members say the wrestling icon remains in strong spirits. Hart had taken a turn for the worse, but last night he had reinforced his fighting spirit and is now in stable condition, said a spokesperson for Bret Hart, one of Stu Hart's sons.

"He's almost 89 years old and we have to take this day by day," she said last night, as family members visited Stu, the patriarch of the most famous wrestling family our city has ever known.

"He's stable and in good spirits," Hart said through the spokesperson.

Hart has been at Rockyview Hospital since Oct. 3, to receive treatment for an elbow infection and a swollen stomach.

He also has intestinal problems, diabetes, and has been suffering from some respiratory complications as of late.

Since Hart's stay in hospital, family and friends have been visiting constantly, and they're also getting an outpouring of support from Calgarians who don't even personally know them.

For more than half a century, Hart has played a number of important roles in the Calgary community, from his wrestling days, to his coaching days, to his numerous contributions to city charities.

Many high-profile wrestlers credit their success to the Hart clan, and have publicly praised and supported the family over the years.

It's not known when Hart is to be released from hospital.
