Smackdown!: Lesnar unleashed on Steph
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling
I'm back, and better then ever! I'll stop right there before I get sued by Eric Bischoff. After a few weeks off, due to vacation and some computer problems, I'm ready to bring you all the action from Smackdown! Michael Cole and Tazz are doing their thing from Birmingham, Alabama.
Before the actions kicks off the WWE pays tribute to all those who lost their live on that terrible day two years ago. I do would like to take a moment to remember all of those who paid the ultimate price for freedom on September 11, 2001.
The show starts off in the arena's parking garage, as Brian Hebner is setting things up for the "Latino Heat Parking Lot Brawl". Eddie Guerrero will be taking on John Cena later tonight in this varation on a street fight.
Match #1 - Rey Misterio and Billy Kidman vs. Tajiri and Nunzio
Hey, we have a Kidman sighting! Misterio and Nunzio start things off, with Nunzio dominating the action. Misterio swing the momentum in his favor with a tilt-a-whirl head scissors. Kidman jumps into the action. He gets Nunzio in a Big Swing, and Misterio finishes it off with a drop kick. Tajiri misses a handspring elbow on Misterio, falling back into the ropes. Misterio lands a 619 to Tajiri's back. Kidman then drop kicks Tajiri face first into the ropes. Misterio tries for another 619, but Misterio ducks it, and connects with a vicious to Misterio, Tajiri covers and gets the pin.
Winners via pin-fall: Tajiri and Nunzio
Vince is on the phone in his office. He asks Sable what type of flowers they should send Zach Gowan, roses or pansies? Sable says pansies. Get it, pansies! Because they think Zach is a pansy. Get it? Never mind, it wasn't funny. Stephanie interrupts, and lashes into her father for be behind Lesnar's attack last week. Lesnar enters the room and says he wants a fight so he can warm-up for next week's match. He offers to take on Kurt Angle, Undertaker, and Zach Gowan, tonight. One little problem, none of them are at Smackdown! tonight. Brock looks around the room. He has fought Big Show, Vince, and Sable, or so he says, so that only leaves one person to fight, Steph. Vince loves the idea, he says and I quote, "Think of the ratings!" You can make your own joke. Vince then gives his daughter a choice. Wrestle Brock or quit as Smackdown! GM.
Backstage, Nidia and Torrie Wilson are looking for Dawn Marie. They want to know what she is trying to prove by taking on Shanequa, tonight. Dawn tells them that someone has to stand up and stop her.
Match #2 - Shanequa vs. Dawn Marie
Shanequa fends off Dawn's early attack, and takes things outside the ring. Dawn is dropped off the security barrier and then thrown into the steel steps. Shanequa grabs a chair, and is about to inflict more damage, when Nidia and Torrie come to Dawn's aide. Nidia takes a clotheline, before Torrie can lay Shanequa out with a chair shot.
Winner via DQ: Shanequa
Stephanie is deep in thought in the back. Sable stops by to give her some advice. She tries to talk Steph into quitting, because Sable seems to have the inside track on the GM postion.
Match #3 - Chris Benoit vs. Rhyno
Benoit slaps the Crippler Cross Face on Rhyno early. Rhyno gets to the ropes and breaks the hold. Benoit follows it up with a snap suplex and some hard chops to the chest. Rhyno knocks Benoit to the outside. A-Train runs in, and with Rhyno distracting the ref, picks up Benoit and drives him into the ring post. Benoit is rolled back into the ring, but Rhyno can only get a two count. After a bad transition into a commercial break, we rejoin the action. Rhyno hits a superplex, but once again cannot get the pin. He hangs Benoit in a tree of woe, and shoulder blocks Benoit in the crotch. Rhyno then applies a sharpshooter, but Benoit is able to pull himself to the ropes. Benoit turns the tables by slapping on a sharpshooter of his own, but Rhyno grabs the ropes to break the hold. Benoit is setup for another superplex. He fights of Rhyno and hits a powerbomb from a sunsetflip. Rhyno sets up for a gore, but Benoit side-steps it and locks in the CCF. Rhyno taps.
Winner via submission: Chris Benoit
The APA is hosting a poker game in their office. Matt Hardy berates the guys for their treatment of the butler, Bruce. Hardy then turns and rips into Shannon Moore for bringing him the wrong OJ. This leads to a match being made. Everyone then leaves to watch the parking lot brawl. Bradshaw stops before he leaves and gives a tribute to September 11.
Match #4 - John Cena vs. Eddie Guerrero - Latino Heat Parking Lot Brawl
Cena is standing in a ring of cars, and lays down some lyrics before Eddie rolls up in his low-rider truck. This match consisted of Eddie and Cena throwing each other onto the hoods and roofs of cars. There were some big spots, both men going head first through car windows, Guerrero getting suplexed on the roof of a car. And some weapons did show up, the most unusual being a lawnmower. It wasn't used Eddie sidestepped it. To end the match, Cena sets up Guerrero for an F-U, but Guerrero fights his way out. He then hip tosses Cena on the hood of a car. Guerrero climbs on top of a mini-van, when Chavo Guerrero runs out, and smashes a hubcap on Cena's head. Eddie hits a frog splash, and cover Cena for the pin. Eddie and Chavo drive off victorious.
Winner via pinfall: Eddie Guerrero
Match #5 - APA vs. Matt Hardy v(1.0) and Shannon Moore
This match was short and pointless. The APA picks up the victory when Bradshaw hits Moore with the Clotheline from Hell.
Winner via pin-fall: APA
After the match, Bruce comes to the ring with a silver platter. I wonder what's under the dish? It's beer! The APA celebrates by knocking back some cold ones. Somewhere Stone Cold is smiling.
Vince is in the ring to announce Brock Lesnar. The "Manster" comes to the ring. Vicne then calls out his daughter, calling her a coward for not making a decision, yet. Steph's music hits, and she comes out in wrestling attire. I guess there's your answer, Vince.
Vince looks worried, but then rips into his daughter for defying him. He tells her that he will turn Brock loose on her; he will go through with hit. Brock grabs Steph by the throat; she kicks him in the groin. Brock goes down. Vince traps his daughter in the corner; she kicks him in the groin. Vince goes down. Steph tries to run to the back, but Brock cuts her off. He throws the GM into the security barrier. He then tells her what he is planning on doing. Brock grabs the steel steps and tosses them at Steph. The ring post saves her, and the steps fall harmlessly to the ground. Steph once again rusn to the back, and she makes it. Brock is in hot pursuit, and catches her. He carries her to ring side, and sets her up for an F-5. Kurt Angle, out of nowhere, saves Steph. Vince tries to attack Angle. This provides enough distraction for Lesnar to get Kurt up for an F-5. Angle counters and pushes Lesnar into the ring post. Angle tosses Lesnar into the ring post a second time. Lesnar and Vince run back up the ramp. Angle tosses the steps after them. The show ends with Angle yelling he wants Brock right now!
