Rattlesnake will rock Montreal
By TIM BAINES -- Ottawa Sun

We\'ll finally once again hear the sound of breaking glass tonight at Montreal\'s Bell Centre.

And wrestling\'s Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin, will strut into the ring at the No Way Out pay-per-view, his first WWE appearance since late last summer.

Even in the storyline world of wrestling where matches are scripted, you can\'t help but wonder if Austin won\'t let off a bit of steam when he faces Eric Bischoff, the former WCW boss who claimed Austin had no talent. Of course, Stunning Steve Austin of the Hollywood Blonds would go on to become Stone Cold Steve Austin, WWF champion.

No Way Out promises to be one of WWE\'s best events of the year. Other matches include The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan; Scott Steiner vs. Triple H; Chris Jericho vs. Jeff Hardy; Brock Lesnar, Chris Benoit and Edge vs Kurt Angle and Team Angle; The Undertaker vs. The Big Show; Lance Storm and William Regal vs. Rob Van Dam and Kane and Billy Kidman vs Matt Hardy.

The excitement should carry over to the next night when Toronto\'s Air Canada Centre will be rocking for RAW. But speculation has it that Austin may not be there, instead joining the Smackdown! roster to feud with The Rock.

- Michael Landsberg admits he\'s not much of a wrestling fan. But that hasn\'t stopped him from delivering a series of revealing interviews with wrestlers on TSN\'s Off the Record show.

\"I have no affection for wrestling, but I do have affection for two things,\" said Landsberg. \"First, there are the wrestlers, the most interesting people you could meet. And second, what they bring to the show brings unparalleled ratings.\"

The latest man to go toe-to-toe with Landsberg was Bret Hart and the show\'s host marvels at the result.

\"(Bret\'s) story is so compelling. He was breathtaking,\" said Landsberg. \"He held back nothing. He\'s been the best friend this show\'s had. His family has been touched by so much good, but also by unparalleled bad. I can only equate that with the Kennedy family.\"

Landsberg is enthralled with the wrestlers, who have only in the past few years been allowed to speak out of character.

\"We couldn\'t have done this show (several years ago),\" said Landsberg. \"In 1997, the WWF was looking to gain an edge. They wanted to put their people out there to make an impression as human beings, not as characters.

\"A guy like Jerry Lawler has a tear in his eye when he talks about his former wife (Stacey Carter). Stone Cold Steve Austin (was emotional) when he talked about Brian Pillman. Vince McMahon admitted he lied to Bret (Hart). And Chris Jericho admitted he was pissed off that his talent was not being taken seriously enough.\"

The second part of the Hart interview drew 147,000 viewers, 123% higher than the average for the season to date.

- Kit Parker Films has recently given us several more blasts from the past. After releasing the superb Wrestling Gold collection a year or so ago, there are four new must-haves for any wrestling fan\'s video library: Blood, Brawls and Grudges, Night of the Legends, Before they were Famous and Wrestling\'s Future Stars. Blood, Brawls and Grudges is a series of matches from Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Among the stars are The Rock and Roll Express, Macho Man Randy Savage, Rick and Scott Steiner, Cactus Jack, Al Snow, Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk. Night of the Legends is a 1994 card featuring such stars as Road Warrior Hawk, Bullet Bob Armstrong, Bob Orton Jr., Dick Slater, Ronnie Garvin, The Thrillseekers (Chris Jericho and Lance Storm) and The Heavenly Bodies. Before they were Famous features stars such as The Headbangers, Bob Holly, Jerry Lynn, Tazz, The Gangstas, D-Lo Brown and Cactus Jack in their early days. But the highlight may be video of Kane, unmasked as he wrestled as Unabom. Wrestling\'s Future Stars features matches from WWE training ground Ohio Valley Wrestling. Among the stars featured are Nick Constantino (Rico), Leviathan (Batista) and Randy Orton.
