Nestor wins opener, Marino loses twice
By QMI Agency

Canadian Daniel Nestor and partner Max Mirnyi of Belarus ran into little trouble in their first-round men's doubles match Friday at Wimbledon.

Nestor and Mirnyi won 6-4, 6-4 over American David Martin and Czech Leos Friedl. First-round doubles matches Friday were best-of-threes instead of best-of-fives, as rainy weather has played havoc with the schedule.

In the next round, Nestor and Mirnyi will cross swords with South African Kevin Anderson and Austrian Julian Knowle.

Nestor, 38, won the Wimbledon doubles title with Nenad Zimonjic in 2008 and 2009.

He and Mirnyi won the French Open this year.

Canadian Rebecca Marino -- who was ousted earlier this week in the second round in singles -- was eliminated twice Friday in first-round matches.

Marino and Turkey's Ipek Senoglu lost 6-3, 6-2 to South African Natalie Grandin and Czech Vladimira Uhlirova in women's doubles.

Marino, 20, and Mexican Santiago Gonzalez lost in mixed doubles to Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru and American Rajeev Ram 6-3, 6-4.
