WIMBLEDON, England -- Seeing Jason Blake's media conference following his first-round loss to Italy's Andreas Seppi yesterday reminded me of an old photo I once saw of a man knocking his fist against his head while explaining that his wife had gone into labour before he even knew she was pregnant.
Blake held on to his head in a similar fashion while trying to explain his latest disappointing loss.
It is, after all, hard to understand: Blake recently reached the final in Queens, only to lose out in the first round on the grass yesterday.
Amidst the controversy surrounding all the screaming going on in women's tennis these days, Maria Sharapova, Ms. 100 Decibels, may have met her match in Viktoriya Kutuzova.
With both players screaming and grunting loudly, the officials let it go and the crowd didn't seem to mind the auditory spectacle.
As for the actual tennis, Sharapova's shoulders withstood the test and she took the match 7-5, 6-4.
